"inscrutable" nice word

 Agreed!! It describes one who is enigmatic, cryptic, deep, mysterious!

Yes, this sounds plausible....which is why Costa is saying Mercedes wouldn't want him. :hehe:

Stranger things have happened, eh?
Like a driver who insisted they wanted to retire with the same team they started out with and yet has moved?

It was far from the same team when he left. from when he joined. :D

There's still time for Lewis to do that. I presume you mean Lewis?

Yes, I do mean Hamilton. And, that was my mistake saying he wanted to retire there,
when in fact, he meant he wanted to spend his entire F1 career with McLaren:

, Andrew Benson wrote:">Hamilton in McLaren career pledge

World champion Lewis Hamilton says he intends to drive for the McLaren team for the rest of his Formula One career.

Hamilton made the pledge at a "welcome home" event staged by McLaren at their base in Woking, Surrey, on Wednesday.

"I'm with the team I've always dreamt of driving for, and I've got the car I always wanted - so why change?" said 23-year-old Hamilton.

"I don't know how long I'll be in F1 - but I want to see my career out with this team, and that's my plan."

Of course, there's no denying that he could possibly go back to McLaren at some future date.
Again, stranger things have happened!

You're absolutely right!
So, again... stranger things have happened, eh?

I think we can excuse what a 23 year old kid says, especially when fast forward a few years that team is purposely giving him false data during critical car set up FP3 sessions in Spa just to prove a point during contact negotiations. Oh well... he who laughs last laughs best maybe? But this thread is about the very skilled Aldo Costa, who in their right mind would let a guy like that go?

Sure you can excuse a 23-year-old. Even a 30-year-old, for that matter,
because circumstances do change. Times change. People change.
Most importantly our understanding and perspective change.

At least, they do in people who keep learning and growing.

From a Tifosi point of view this is the crucial point IMO. Here's something Aldo said in his interview "And Tombazis? Look I was dismissed because i was stifling his creativity,". So the conflict was resolved by SD by removing the guy (Aldo) who was more effective at pushing his agenda. Now consider Marco's approach and words. He wants guys who can push and argue their case. I have a feeling, if Marco was around at that time it may have been Tombazis that was fired. With hindsight that would have been the better decision.

Still, can't go backwards, have to move forward. We clearly lost 13 good engineers ("At Mercedes Aldo works with a group of twelve Italians") so perhaps Luca and Marco should have a stronger policy of hiring more Italians?

Oh he did want to spend his entire career at McLaren, he was completely sincere when he said that, which was why his decision to go to Mercedes was so agonising for him, despite the TP there focusing on the slower driver and the Spa outrage.
It should also be remembered that the team he went to are the ones who have been involved with him and helping fund him since he was thirteen. Perhaps that helped ease the decision. But what an inspired decision it turned out to be!

Sagi is not happy with Hamilton breaking his words and jumping to Mercedes....it would be a much better sight to see him fighting in midfield in the current mediocre, floundering McLaren. :hehe:

His body might burst into flames and lose his soul to Satan as soon as he puts pen to paper.

Red flames would of course be the right color :hehe:

EDIT Although, Lewis can be white hot on track sometimes .... red with white .... still the right colors :)
