Edit. Geet, error or no error, he won Silverstone. His huge losses have come from mechanical issues. Austria, he came second, no biggy, he scored good points, so the error was mitigated. What he can't mitigate is continual mechanical issues.

I agree with Geet to an extent, Hamilton has made more than 1 error this season. Monaco, he should've set a better banker (he didn't and Nico made him pay for it in a sh!t way), he let Nico outpace him in Canada qual (his turf) and Austria he plain lost it, in Silverstone he made the error of judgement (but won out in the end).

But f*cks sake, this is going to be the third win gift wrapped by Mercedes to Nico.....Melbourne, Germany, and now Hungary. I mean, come on....why is this only happening on one side of the garage??

I dunno, I just cant see how Merc would want to be seen favouring one driver because he is German. They sell more cars outside Germany and that was the whole idea behind the rise in sales after hiring Lewis.

If you imagine the damage done to Red Bulls marketing by the Seb/Webber rift, one would have to have acted rashly to go about 'favouring' Nico in this manner, and the Germans manufacturing giants dont do rash. They dont even take a dump without planning it years in advance

Anecdotal info, in 2011 I was in Canada in the rain button bumped Hamilton out and bumped Alonso out ending both their races and was handed first place when Vettle showed his caliber of driving and chocked. I don't recall anyone going on for pages about how ragged or reckless button had been. So when you talk about emotion and perceptions etc, two things need to be in place Roth in order to not make them laughable statements. 1, reality 2, consistency.

Sorry its a bit old but missed this earlier. Very good point. I remember screaming at the time for Button to get a drive through for punting Alonso off but he got nothing. And Alonso probably has the best spatial awareness of any driver, so for him to be involved is very rare.

In fact that was one of Button's worst races of 2011, until the last 15 laps or so (whenever the last SC went in) when he was superb.

If its dry today, I think the following will happen:

Rosberg will run and hide.

Bottas, Ricciardo and Vettel will battle for the last 2 podiums. Alonso and Massa will be just behind waiting to pounce on any errors.

Then the usual McLaren/Toro Rosso/Force India scrap for the final points.

Hamilton should get into the points, but I reckon he will end up around Alonso/Massa depending on how fast he clears the slow and mid field cars. So unless any of the front runners DNF I think realistically Lewis is looking at 5th or 6th.

What would Mercedes get from knobbling a driver. Apart from paying a bit less for there licence to enter next year, but if they are worried about a few grand they have bigger things to worry about than quality control.

Not sure if Hamilton will finish this race as his car will of been massively rebuilt and will not be able to shake the car down properly before the race.

I also think Kimi and Ferrari got caught out by Bianchi and thought they where safe to get to Q2

I don't think anyone's suggesting Merc are deliberately nobbling Lewis, not on here anyway, but Twitter is awash with it!

Ferrari man I reckon sixth for Lewis realistically, unless rain or Rosberg problems.

It's the same stupid crap that came up with Vettel and Webber over the last 3 years. Or, even more interestingly Button and Hamilton in 2011 and 2012. This shouldn't be a surprise with some of Hamilton's fans. Unfortunately Hamilton kind of didn't help the situation with his comments after Monaco qually. He just fueled the appetite of some of his conspiracy theorising fans...

If Hamilton moves on to... say Ferrari. Will we see the same type of comments if Alonso was beating him? I think everywhere Hamilton goes, the conspiracy that his team favours the other driver, that will follow him. I would like to view Hamilton as a driver more than a walking headline.

If Alonso is in Ferrari and Hamilton goes there, that would be impossible thinking. Remember 2007? Plus, Alonso would be automatic Number Uno...

He would have to be, otherwise he could end up blackmailing the team

Lewis' fans do view him as a driver.
