I just want it to do want it's supposed to do, I don't want to mess with it. And if it works like my iPad, which I LOVE, that's brill.
It is annoying that you have to pay fro extra bits on the iPad, but I can do most things without the extra bits.

You'll love the iPhone then, it's a 4in version of the iPad just adding phone functionality.

So after killing not one but two of my favorite all time phone the Note II, I've been playing with an LG G3. I know, I know... LG you say? Hasn't the market pretty much become iPhone and Samsung on the hardware front?

Well this G3 has some pretty damned interesting and innovative little features, a quick access home page that includes all of the essentials and a phone keypad right on the home screen which means that 90% of everything you're ever going to do on the phone is one click away. It's the same size screen as the Note III but it's got an 5.5 inch screen with a 1440 x 2560 resolution. The other very cool thing is... an IR beam. This phone has a built in universal remote! How freaking cool is that? Battery life isn't bad, not quite in the Note II range but it's at least in the neighborhood.

I also picked up the new Amazon Fire phone but honestly haven't even taken it out of the box, it's just too small... I've been smitten by the phablet format and I'm not moving.

What is the build quality like? My contract is due up in December and you did not steer me wrong with the Note 2. Lol

Very good actually, it's their flagship model so it feels very solid. The other thing that's kind of nice is that the volume function buttons are on the back so it's very easy to use one handed.

Samsung's had ir for while. It's even available on the gear. The s5 with gear 2 is a good combination IMO. I use the remote on the gear all the time. It's a neat feature. Also being able to read and reply to messages on the gear is cool.
