Anybody remember this classic arcade game? Ayrton Senna endorsed it for a while too. I remember playing this at the age of about 5 in a French arcade whilst on holiday and it was awesome. The graphics even today look pretty good even though they're just 2D sprites, and the track layout (even though it looks a tad like Suzuka featuring Monaco's swimming pool chicanes) is better than anything a certain Mr H Tilke can design. :D

f1 POLE POSSITION 64 was an amazing game which i bought back in late 1997 and lasted me all through 1998. it was set in the 1996 season, it wasnt really that detailed or inspiring but it holds a special place in my heart, i still remember the first car i drove, minardi M195b giancarlo fisichella<< coz the paintjob was cool

Super Monaco Grand Prix 1 & 2 were two of my favourite games whilst I was growing up. Loved them. I wish at some point they could become avaidable to buy on Xbox Live.

There's the advert for it, the Japanese one. I love the corny bit at the end with Senna holding the game and giving the the thumbs up! :D

The Japanese love F1, but also sometimes go crazy with it, you ever seen the old Fuji TV intros?

The ones from the 80's with incredible CGI effects? Makes you think you're watching a modern F1 game intro!

Yeah I know and the theme music is cool. They really made a big deal of it back then. And they still do, although the CGi is gone in place of anime.

Whilst on the subject, here's a pretty good recreation of Schumacher parking at the rascasse 2 years ago on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version of this game. ;)

If you watch this from 1.00 onwards you'll see a 1990 Japanese Formula One intro. It looks great, and even by modern standards it's very good. There's a few others as well that are worth watching.

The first F1 game I can remember playing was F1 97, I was around 6 years old and I can still remember it as if it was 2 weeks ago, those were the days Murray Walker on the commentary, cutting the corners in Australia, hitting other cars into the Monaco barriers... :D

"And he's into the barriers!"

"It's not enough to be lucky, you've got to be good; and he is that!"

:hehe:

I have this game on SegaMegadrive. It is so good. A blast from the past.
Of the Playstation 1, 2, 3 F1 games PS1 1998 F1 is my fave. The rest are rubbish I think.
