I like his attitude so far this season, he knows he's behind and being outperformed but is quietly chipping away at it. Maybe he's realized he's not the DemiGod which he felt he was the past 3 years or so, though he's not overdriving and screwing up results....he has been unlucky and gotten 2nd rate strategies.

And I appreciate any driver who goes for a do or die manouver when they get pissed off...and Vettel's Silverstone move on Alonso was appreciated.

Quietly?! Did you SEE Silverstone?!? :D

As far as I saw/heard, he was no noisier than Alonso but getting a lot more stick for some reason,

And Kimi gets no stick at all for a bonehead move. He's a 4 time WDC screaming like Veruca Salt, it's just how it goes. He did ultimately get around Alonso but it unfortunately cost him any chance at a podium when he got stuck there for umpteen laps.

Fully agree on all points. Kimi is a bigger diva than half the grid, is a crap driver today and gets no stick. And Vettel should've made the pass a lot sooner than he did.

This is probably the most moronic thing I'll read today. Not only is it unfair to blame Vettel of the lack of attendance, the conclusion is looking for a scapegoat at best and delusional more likely.

ESPNF1 Sebastian Vettel has been blamed for the poor turnout at his home grand prix following negative comments made earlier in the season about F1's new V6 turbo era.

After three consecutive rounds in front of capacity crowds in Canada, Austria and Great Britain, just 52,000 people turned up to watch the German Grand Prix on Sunday - down 30% from the attendance in 2012. Circuit adviser Katja Heim thinks Vettel, who memorably labelled the sound of the new engines "s***" in March, should bear some of the blame for the poor turnout due to the influence he has over German fans.

"It certainly didn't really help that Sebastian in his frustration about the new Formula One and his car gave loads of interviews about how bad Formula One is now and that it's not worth going there," Heim told Reuters. "As a four-time world champion from Germany, people believe him more than they would the sales people. So if he says there's nothing any more for the fans, it's not Formula One like it used to be, that was 100% quite damaging."

Heim also confessed Germany's recent FIFA World Cup success played a part, poking fun at England's dismal performance several weeks before the well-attended British Grand Prix.

"For Formula One, it would maybe have been better if Germany had done an England and gone out in the first round. I really believe that."

Yeah definitely Vettel's fault. Couldnt possibly be that Katja Heim and all her staff at KHP didnt do enough integrated marketing communications?

There was a lot of red bull/ Vettel support, more than for anyone else I would say. I didn't se a lot of overt support for Rosberg. I'm sure there were plenty of his fans there but I thought there'd be a lot more. Perhaps they don't like playing second fiddle to Monaco :hehe:

Not sure what's wrong with the German fans, but the quality of racing has very much improved, so it can't be that. Surely they haven't been paying close attention to what Luca says?

Maybe they couldn't bear to watch what was happening to Vettel?

He's not a 4 time WDC or they don't expect him to become one? I don't know, it's a bizarre occurrence and I can't come up with any type of rational explanation.

Maybe it's a passion thing. They react to the driver's style or personality. The British are the same. We couldn't get enough of Mansell or Hill, guys with a bit of moxy, but it wasn't until Hamilton came along we collectively got all jazzed again, because he was born to win not just compete. Coulthard, Irvine, Button never ignited much despite being in top teams. Schumacher you could tell was special, Vettel and Rosberg tend to get the job done but there's not much that makes them interesting as racers.
