Hopefully they'll drop this change before next season. Doubt it, but some of the drivers have expressed their doubts. I think the drivers have a good opportunity to come together and meet with the FIA and say were are absolutely NOT ok with this. But, I'm not sure if they're all against it. I know vettel is and button is on the fence if I remember correctly.

Its a nice thought - but I dont think anyone apart from the FiA and Bernies oppinions matter.

Ive not seen ONE person in favour of double points, yet.....

I'm half expecting some farce involving this standing start thing and the double points to decide the outcome of the 2015 WDC.

I REALLY hope neither driver benefits from the double points bullsh*t. To me, I'm still counting Abu Dhabi as 25 for a win....don't care what the books say.

Same thoughts here, I wouldn't feel like I won a world title if I won because I benefit from the double points. hopefully nothing comes of the double pts and we get the right champion.

It's a real nonsense. A lot of objection to it was evident at Silverstone.

McLaren was involved in initial plans to introduce standing restarts after safety cars next year.

The proposal has now passed through the FIA's World Motor Sport Council and will be introduced for the 2015 season, seeing cars line up on the grid for a standing start after a safety car period. FIA race director Charlie Whiting said the idea, which has not been universally popular among drivers and fans but received the backing of the teams, was first thought up during talks with a member of McLaren.

"Standing restart is something that I was involved in personally," Whiting told the official website for the Russian Grand Prix. "I was talking to someone at McLaren and we came up with this idea how to make the show a bit better. When you watch a race, what is the most exciting part of the race? The start. So, why not have a second one? It makes sense."

Whiting rejects suggestions that the restarts will be dangerous and believes the added action will outweigh the negatives.

"Of course, it offends some people because it's not pure racing. It's been done for the show. Some people were even silly enough to say it's dangerous. Well, if it's dangerous, you wouldn't even have the start of the race, would you? I understand why some people might think it's too false as it's not what normally happens. But why not? I can't see any downside to it.

"It will provide more excitement; you seldom get any changes of position at a rolling restart, so this might provide an opportunity for changes in position. Some drivers may be worried of losing their lead, but then again other drivers might get a chance to gain something from it. I think it's an interesting idea. It's been approved. Now we've got to work on making it work."

I guess Charlie has never heard of the yellows breed yellows racing adage. The slime will rise to the top in teams willing to sacrifice one driver in order to give their other driver a shot. I fear poor Kimi will be crashing near the end of every GP next year. :hehe:

Well with F**KTARDS like this who can't see the irony in their own interviews, no wonder the rules are just getting more and more ridiculous.

Hmm, so he's admitting it's a rule being brought in to deliberately interfere with the actual racing order. And he doesn't think there's a difference between the actual start and a restart with potentially worn tyres in the mix.
