So you could argue Schumacher had the better qualities to become a champion. Yes. If thats what you want above all else.Juan didnt, he wanted to win races by being the fastest driver and he wouldnt cheat.

So it comes down to personal preference and i prefer the guy with the natuaral talent and a racing instinct who may forget a championship is at stake but puts the move on his competitor anyway.

I'm no apologist for Michael Schumacher, but his work ethic was simply brilliant, and if Montoya put in even half of that effort he would still be in Formula One.

Yes ayrton had the talent, not fit though and I dont know about his work ethic. He was more a Juan than a Schumacher though there were times when he treated his competitors a little contemptuously. Perhaps he was just the right mix of both.
Juan would have fared much better in a previous era when cars had to be controlled by the driver, F1 was less political and drivers werent nurse maided.

I can't agree with you about Senna. He was supremely fit, in fact, his resting heart rate was in the low forties, and he in fact started the whole culture of drivers having to physically and mental fit and putting in hours on the test track (as well as, it has to be said, the culture of aggressive driving that Schumacher, for instance, did). From my reading, Senna sometimes barely being able to stand was down to a medical condition rather than any lack of effort on his part.

Well I do agree with most of what you say about Senna, He is the best so far but I did read he was unfit and couldnt hold his head up in races therefore he had to have personal training to rectify it, so maybe he got fit. But he played dirty and what he introduced Schumacher perfected.
On some things we wont agree
But I do agree with 8ball when he says that as yet Lewis hasnt stooped to the dirty tactics of the aformentioned drivers.
Lewis has the talent, the fitness, the work ethic and he plays fair. Which is why I think he will ultimately be the best of all. The only thing he lacks is experience and he did pretty damn well without it lasty yea. He is also a very fast learner.

I'm not disagreeing with you that Schumacher could, to be frank, be a dirty bar steward at times, but it doesn't change the fact that Montoya and other drivers who had the skill over the years, didn't put in the effort to fulfil their potential.

Ayrton Senna was the greatest ever. Not just in bud's opinion, or mine, but in the view of the majority of Formula One fans, as indicated by the multitude of polls conducted by websites, television channels, and motor racing magazines. Schumacher did well to win what he did, and I respect him a lot, but to say he is the greatest driver of all time is the stuff of nonsense.

Yes and on that last point we are at last in agreement :D

To the guy who he didnt talk to- that was bad of him but he is hot tempered so maybe you caught him at a bad time-car not going right or an arguement with Connie. Or maybe he just didnt see you if you were only 10 and little. That sort of behaviour is contrary to everything Ive read about him (though he does hate the press and could get arsey with them).

Maybe he didnt see me? Yeah ok when I asked him for his signature he turned around looked at my cousin and me and walked away. Even if he was pissed it only takes 5 seconds to sign your signature.

Yes I know it does and if he deliberately ignored you it was out of character and it was not a nce thing to do :? Though if you take the 5 seconds and times it by the people at a gp (100 thousand at Silverstone)thats a lot if people and a lot of seconds......minutes.....hours? The line has to be drawn somewhere, drivers cant sign autographs for everyone.(I managed to get Damon Hill's :D ) I still like Juan a lot, loved his driving style and he remains one of my favourites.
