Ted Kravitz spoke to Mercedes about this and they said Hamilton overshot the 1st stop and the crew to shuffle. On the 2nd stop there was some damage to the brake case and to prevent further damage the mechanic on that wheel had to take more care which added time to the stop (Rosberg had the same issue in Australia). So 1 was driver error and the other bad luck. Bit of a non-story if im honest.

Question. Do both drivers share pit stop crew, or do they have their own, like they do engineers?

Steve Matchett and David Hobbs from NBCSN just confirmed the drivers do share the pit stop crew. Steve Matchett (former world championship mechanic for benetton) said he thinks what is catching hamilton out is that he is not positioning the car in the pits as perfectly as rosberg is. He said six inches difference will cause a few tenths delay.

Ok, as I thought, but wanted to check.

Can we please stop the conspiracy theories now please. At least give it a season. From them interviews I've seem with Niki Lauda et al, if EITHER of the drivers were the favourite, it's Lewis.

They have the WCC in the bag. They have the WDC in the bag. Why should they start playing games like that. If they REALLY wanted to favour Nico, they would just bring in team orders.

And why would they deliberately slow down his pits when he was still racing the Williams today. They wouldn't risk it. It's dumb.

Yeah that is a GREAT way to win over his team...it was German lol. I hope Lewis wins in Germany....if Nico beats him there and speaks German on the podium at Merc's home to the German crowd....that's a big WIN politically.

That's a bit harsh on Alonso and Ricciardo to be honest. Both have done excellent jobs in average cars!

Very fair point, and to clarify I was speaking from a team perspective.
