I guess the man who has been accused of not having a conscience, actually does!

Yup, putting Barrichello through that embarrassing crap was better than the alternative.

I'm sure it was embarrassing all around... :(

Sagi, it was dreadful, and a big embarrassment for the sport. The reaction from the crowd said all that needed to be said.

I can understand that it wasn't good for anyone, let alone for the sport.
Unfortunately, each player chose a role and together, they lost the plot.

Looks like Hammie lowered the hammer and 'killed' Rosberg in FP2. :hehe:

All in jest of course...its all stupid practice.

STUPID? At least this allows the team to iron out some faults and see how their car is like :)

I will be interested in qualifying tomorrow to see what the lap times are in comparison to a decade ago. In 2002, Barrichello's pole time was a 1:08.0 (2003 was on race fuel and therefore slower), and while Hamilton was 1.5s off that in FP2, with track evolution by Q3 the Merc's could conceivably beat the 1:08. It will be interesting to see whether, despite considerably smaller engines and less aero if this year's F1 cars are faster than 12 years ago.

As a Ferrari fan, it also looks better for me this weekend and Alonso looks best of the rest ahead of the RBR's and Williams. Raikkonen seems to be a fair way off Alonso's pace. Honest question but do you think this is because Alonso is driving unbelievably well or Raikkonen is slower than he was last year? Because I honestly didnt see Alonso crushing Raikkonen as he has for most of this season.

I am not surprised by what I see between the Ferrari drivers. I think Qualifying will be more telling but looking at sector times today the Merc engined cars looked very strong. I think you're right that Ferrari can get in the mix here and perhaps be the best non Merc engined team on Sunday. This is a great circuit and seeing it again today was a reminder of what a dumb idea it was to take it out of the calendar.

The push to expand further and further into Asia-Pac and get money even where there is little fan interest in the sport won't hold up long term. If the seats don't get asses in them, there is no long term viability.

Mercedes 1-2 this weekend. Same as it ever was.

I never really expect any 'new' driver in a team to beat the driver that has been there for years already in their first year. Maybe in the second year I expect them to at least be on par. Having said that, I'd still put my money on alonso over raikkonen regardless of the situation. Nothing against raikkonen, he's great, I just think alonso is a little better. But that's just me!
