Rider...IM NO FOOTBALL EXPERT WHATSOEVER...but I thought England didn't look too bad, well, the new younger players. The old ones missed chances and looked not good. I'm thinking Gerard and Rooney. Don't know what the fuss is about with Rooney, I hardly seemed to notice him at all except when he missed...more than once. But at least England were making chances for Rooney to miss with. That's a step forward from that 'kicking the ball around in the wrong end of the field tactic' . The one I thought was really exciting was the young guy with hair a little bit like Lewis, who was really fast and put himself everywhere, he's brill! More like him please Enland.

I'm no football fan, but why should that stop me having an opinion

I think this world cup needs to be written off as a training experience for a young team.

Negatives -
- we were lacking in the final ball. Couldnt convert any of the chances we had.
- we still have some dead wood. Rooney just doesn't do world cups. Lets move on. As RC said, the only time you noticed him was when he was doing something wrong (although he did set up our only goal).
- defensive we were weak.

Positives -
- It just seemed to me like we played a much more attacking style than we used to. For the time I was actually awake, we constantly seemed to be in Italy's half.
- some of the new younger players showed a lot of hunger and passion. Something that has been lacking from our top players for a while.

So I think even though we may struggle to progress from the groups this time, I think there is a lot of promise in such a young group.

Germany reinvented their football a few years ago, with a whole new bunch of young players. It doesnt make sense to have a bunch of dynamic fresh young players and insist on keeping 'older legends' this just stifles the youngsters, why keep Gerrard and Rooney and the old 'untouchables' mentality yet not have Cole or Terry, either clear out the old school and put confidence in a TEAM of young talent? Need a brave young manager - Giggs

Brazil or Germany for the win....though I expect someone else to take it, maybe Holland.

OMG! Australia nearly pulled off a miracle, we were 2-1 up on the Dutch, who would of thought, I was thinking of a total blood bath was coming our way, but the boys did put in a great effort, we had heaps of chances but didn't have the quality to finish off unfortunately.

Starting to think that we could actually beat Spain, they been nowhere in this WC

They keep fooling themselves over and over about some players who are 'immortal'. Come on, get over them and put in some younger guys already.

I wanted England to lose mostly because of their media...but when they did lose I was like . Not disappointed but not surprised either.

Rooney and Gerrard should not of been there.

Problem with England is we arguably have the best domestic league in the world. However, most of the good players are not English. Yet still, going into each major competition, there seems to be this air of (false) hope that we are going to do well. I think '66 has given us some sort of false sense of entitlement.

The sooner we realise we are not any good, and give up hoping, the better we would all be.
