In the following pictures, is there an actual difference in measurements?
Or is it just the angle/distance of the camera taking the shots?

.... and one more

The vane conditioning the air flow around the side pods is wider at the bottom and angled on Kimi's car. See the yellow arrow. On Nando's car it is as it has previously been. Nando's car also has the blown wheel nut on the front while Kimi does not. These elements will work together. They are doing comparison testing of new parts.

You can also see that both cars are running the new engine covers they tested in Canada but did not race with.

oooops...

I was too busy looking at the difference in the width of the car to have noticed it was actually the side pod that was wider!! :banghead:

Thank you!!

I guess they didn't race with those engine covers because they wanted to refine/change them, in some way?

My guess is they didn't race with these new engine covers in Canada for some other reason, possibly heat?

Really happy for Felipe. I think the move to Williams was the shot in the arm his career needed. So, I'm simply very happy for him.

Also, isn't this a super sight, and the sign of what a great sportsman Fernando is :)

Those two have always got on well, Fernando has always said he owed a lot to Felipe - not many team mates would help out like Felipe did on numerous occasions. Massa at times kept Alonso honest, especially late 2012/early 2013 but Alonso being the great champion he is was always going to have the edge.

As for Alonso today, much better. Ok Hamilton would normally have beat him but best of the rest after Merc/Williams is good and gives Alonso half a chance of a podium as Williams may have tyre degradation issues plus Alonso had good race pace on Friday.

Expecting 2 stops, probably around lap 12 and sometime soon after lap 40. Tire deg at the end of these stints will make a big difference to this race IMO.

Better pace from Alonso yesterday and for a while I thought he was going to steal 4th from Massa. Still undecided whether it was the new parts and a sign of progress or Alonso magic that caused that, as he was the only non-Merc in the top 7.

I spoke with one of the SF mechanics yesterday and he said they feel they are making progress reducing the gap to Mercedes. On the positive side, they feel they can eventually get there, but it will take time and be done in small steps. One thing that I learned was that even the F14T was designed in what the team knows was a wind tunnel that was significantly inferior to what the leading teams have.
