He hasn't proven himself four times in many people's eyes.

And it seems he even has the faster car of the two RB drivers. It was a big improvement for him to qualify quite well, but Ricciardo has outdriven him almost every race it seems.
Don't want to hope for failure but those four championships were unchallenged years.

Not entirely unchallenged, two of those four he did see some resistance but neither Ferrari nor McLaren were very Ferrari or McLaren like when they needed to be.

Seb calls his car a cumcumber and criticizes his team over strategy

I guess he is as mentally weak as Lewis afterall as he didnt comment on why a cucumber won the last race

The full article, if you're interested (I've taken the liberty of translating it):

wrote:">I apologize. But once and for all, we must also say that with this cucumber on the straights we are not going anywhere. Frustrated and disappointed because of having thrown away a victory due to a lack of strategies from Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel vented after taking third place at the Montreal GP. "We gave the victory away because nothing came to mind," said the four-time WDC. "I'm not here to take second or third."

Not the nicest thing he could have said about his car/team; but, it's just as understandable as any other frustrated driver!

I seem to remember certain comments about Lewis questioning his team strategy in Monaco. I cant remmber who it was suggesting that a frustrated Lewis should have spoken about strategy in private.
Ah well its only Lewis afterall, lets talk about Seb!
#404201
No, clearly not just as understandable as any other frustrated driver since the conversation here and in other sites and forums wasn't dominated about what a frustrated driver said and shouldn't have said during Monaco when he questioned his team's strategy.

Actually a quick review of the comments here would only turn up commnets form some as to how gracefully Vettel handled his third place finish.

Questioning your team in the heat of the race/battle, is one thing, since it's about second-guessing your team, without the benefit of the data they have on the Pit Wall. As far as I'm concerned, when responding to questions from the media, it's probably best to be diplomatic, as much as possible.

Mind you, most of his fans believe it's OK for Hamilton to wear his heart on his sleeve, when he's frustrated, so I guess that means it's OK when other drivers do the same thing.
#404203
Strange, especially as one frustrated driver spoke in the heat of the moment and the other frustrated driver spoke after a period of reflection and after the race.

Hmmn, maybe I am missing something but surely those who went out of their way to condemn Lewis should at least not find Seb behaved normally?
#404206
The one glaring difference in their levels of frustration is unmistakable:

Hamilton had a rough weekend, in Monaco, starting with Rosberg's "questionable" move in qualifying and taking into consideration how difficult it is to pass in this race, if not using the pitstops.

Compare that one weekend to Vettel who has had a relatively easy time of it, for four years and then starting a season where it's only in the SEVENTH race that his car seems to be competitive.

Neither are right to vent against their team, in public; but, it's understandable for both to do so.

I've not once seen you defend when Hamilton does it as vehemently as you've defended Vettel when he does the same thing. It's your prerogative to have different standards, just don't pretend to be taken seriously when making comments that have an agenda while letting us know how incensed you feel when you're challenged because of those comments. The Sagi58 that posted on June 1st at 11:07 PM seems to disagree with you. :hehe:

...It makes sense that he should be able to pit on the fly...

And, I believe he can do that, easily enough and more; but, he might want to reconsider
questioning decisions in the middle of a race, especially if they can't be undone.
e.g. McLaren vs Mercedes "Safety Car Window" strategy and the timing of his pit.

I do understand that he is competitive and really wants this championship; but, it's these
kinds of examples that might lead one to believe he can lose his focus.
#404209
That's not what I said, nor what I meant.

Thinking on the run is important, in ALL jobs; but, timing is everything.
Once a decision is made and it's irreversible, it's important to focus on
what's next rather than on why a different decision wasn't arrived at.

Again, it's not a criticism; merely an observation.

This was about Lewis dwelling on the team strategy in Monaco. Surely this applies equally to Seb, especially as he was still dwelling way after the race finished. I am not being facetious, just trying to understand your response of 'understandable frustration' to the post about Seb calling his car a cucumuber and condeming his teams strategy AFTER the race

I actually went to lengths to explain how I felt Lewis wasn't questioning team strategy at Monaco, rather he was thinking aloud about the situation he found himself in, but Lewis was still castigated by some for questioning his team during a highly frustrating (for more than one reason) race weekend, actually during a particularly stressful part of the race. Yet now it's perfectly understandable for Sebastien to outright call his car a cucumber after the race? That's fine. How does that work then?

It's pretty simple RC, you see Vettel is spelled: V-e-t-t-e-l

NOT H-a-m-i-l-t-o-n.

Please keep this in mind at all times to avoid further misunderstandings.

I was the one that said the Lewis should of questioned the stratergy in private. I still stand by that. I also do not think Seb should of either.

We all know that F1 is a PR driven sport, and a driver questioning a teams abilities to do anything is a good sound bite but muddies the images.
