I'm sure every single fan of F1 will relish this piece of news. I remember how disappointing it was when we lost the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve from the calendar back in 2009. Thankfully, it was re-inserted the following year, and has been giving us excellent Grands Prix ever since.

Anyway, a new contract has been signed, and Montreal will continue hosting the Canadian Grand Prix until at least 2024. Now the long-term future is secure, a large sum of money has been granted - $32m (£17.4m) - to upgrade the current, dated facilities.

Happy days indeed, this is one of everyone's favourite F1 venues.

This is wonderful news. I love this track and it is an amazing place. Glad we will have more races in the future

Lol thanks DD, not sure how I managed to mix the seasons up. Probably because '06 was the last year for places like Imola and also the season when Spa was dropped!

Great news; I just hope the redevelopment fund isn't used to alter the layout of the circuit like they did in Spa; the new Bus Stop Chicane is poo compared to the old one!
