A lot of hypocritical statements there from Bernie; not so long ago he was putting down the idea of new teams; saying that they add nothing to the sport; now suddenly he's welcoming them with open arms. An American team makes sense commercially as having an American team on the grid will mean a bigger crowd at the US Grand Prix'

Speaking of US GP's, do we know if NJ is still going to happen some time?

I was just thinking that because I remember how he was talking about he didn't want slower teams/low budgeted teams in F1. You can see where he was coming from but I am not bothered in two teams coming to F1 as long as they don't slump to the back end of the field as it would give them a meaningless reason to be in F1

Bit of an update on the new teams.

Of course, since the incarnation of this thread, Haas from the USA has been confirmed. After it initially seemed they would be taking up a place on the grid next year, it now looks likely they'll be delaying entry until 2016.

The same year of entry is also on the cards for the other outfit, which will probably be Romanian team Forza Rossa (under the leadership of everyone's favourite back-end team boss, Colin Kolles).

I'd question the seriousness of a team that was put together and then put together a car in less than a year. If anyone wants to be on the grid next year, they'd be buying an existing team.

Would you buy Caterham or start from scratch

Caterham has been a disaster; who would have predicted that Marussia would be the team scoring the first points of the newbies?

I would rather start from scratch as Caterham have gotten it incredibly wrong with the new regs.
