haha AKR you moron the fact youre disrespecting Australian culture is whats irritating me, i actually like soccer but i dont like minority people like you trying to change the majorities culture! all you do is disrespect Football so i think youre the one thats threatened, by a real athletic sport with action all the way through the game. No time to sing and chant your tribal bs here. no time to play soft and get a free kick. fast pace hard tackles high marks! has everything Rugbys got and more! and no nil all draws here

AFL obsolete haha its the highest rating Football code in the country. with another club being established in the Gold Coast and another coming up in Sydney its fan base is only going to get bigger in the rugby states of Queensland and NSW. and theres one thing youre forgetting while you only have an immigrants point of view we Australians take footy as part of our heritage something soccer just doesnt have in my country!

No making fun of the stupid Eggball game does not disrespect Australia. It is like saying if you bag football then you disrespect Italy or England etc. Like people there give a sh!t. I don't, I just bag the baggers back. ;) . Australia isn't all about AFL and you know that. Oh and Australia is a country full of immigrants (including your ancestors) so this Australian culture you speak of is one made by immigrants. If you deny thay you are kidding yourself Bud.

Now back to football. If you think it isn't rough then your kidding yourself. People have gotten broken (Like snapped) ankles from football and also broken knees and shins. Players have had head injuries from mid air collisions and the lot. I don't know what leagues you have watched but it happens in the big leagues a lot. Eduardo (The Croatian player) that plays for Arsenal not long ago had his ankle snapped (Literly) by a tackle at full power made to the anckle by another player. He is out for at least a year! And the chanting is fun which I personally like doing as well. It is unlike boring AFL where you see fat yobbos everywhere with their beer guts. How disgusting! And lastly Queensland also getting 2 new A-League clubs as well. Townsville and Gold Coast. :D

Oh and one final thing. I would say all Australians that follow the Eggball are what you Bud love calling Ferrari supporters. Eggball followers are all mindless lambs. BAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAA

AKR youre not even worth continuing this with, youre a soccer hooligan tribal nut!
why not hurry up and back to your own country  where soccer is called Football.

so AKR youre saying that the USA doesnt have their own culture? they are more of a land of immigrants than Australia. No there is the American culture just as there is an Australian one, the fact you dismiss it shows your true colours of you and your kind, and why the rest of Australia dislikes you

Today is the 19th anniversary of the "Hillsborough Disaster". 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death at Hillsborough which was being used as a neutral venue for the 1989 FA Cup Semi Final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. A string of events including bad police work, faulty turnstiles caused the Leppings Lane End of the Hillsborough ground to become overcrowded and fans were crushed against security fencing - which was put up as hooliganism was still at large 20 years ago. The match between Liverpool and Forest was abandonned after the 6th minute.

It's after disasters like these today we have all-seater Stadia and lots of stewarding, which were put into place after the "Taylor Report". A sad event in Football itself and pretty comparable to the likes of Imola 1994.

A football hooligan tribal nut is what you say I am. Why thankyou for the compliment. ;) That is minus amy violence of course. You know what I have always failed to understand? It is that the English very much colonised Australia. Before all the Southern Europeans came to Australia and then the Asians etc after that, everything was heavly based on what the English brang. So if the English are big football (soccer) nuts why did they forget to bring the game to Australia? This is something that the English certainly screwed up!

Yes somehow where there is football violence, Liverpool FC fans are always somewhat involved. Although in this case the Liverpool fans where this time the victims. Never good at all when it happens to anyone. Makes people falsely believe that football is a violent game. :(

because they colonized Australia before the game was codified! Same can be said about the US, it too was a British colony!
Australian Football was codified before Association Football and Rugby Football was codified before both. which is what they did bring here, until guys in NSW modified it to create Rugby League. American Football was derived from Rugby!

have a read about the meeting of the clubs to codify English Football, its interesting and read about Cambridge wanting rules to allow players to carry and catch the ball

Knowledge, or atleast access to WIKIPEDIA, is power!!

The history of American football, a spectator sport in the United States,[1] can be traced to early versions of rugby football. Both games have their origin in varieties of football played in the United Kingdom in the mid-19th century, in which a ball is kicked at a goal and/or run over a line.

American football resulted from several major divergences from rugby, most notably the rule changes instituted by Walter Camp, considered the "Father of American Football". Among these important changes were the introduction of the line of scrimmage and of down-and-distance rules.[2][3][4] In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, gameplay developments by college coaches such as Amos Alonzo Stagg, Knute Rockne, and Glenn "Pop" Warner helped take advantage of the newly introduced forward pass. The popularity of collegiate football grew as it became the dominant version of the sport for the first half of the twentieth century. Bowl games, a college football tradition, attracted a national audience for collegiate teams. Bolstered by fierce rivalries, college football still holds widespread appeal in the US.

The origin of professional football can be traced back to 1892, with William "Pudge" Heffelfinger's $500 contract to play in a game for the Allegheny Athletic Association against the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. In 1920 the American Professional Football Association was formed. This league changed its name to the National Football League (NFL) two years later, and eventually became the major league of American football. Primarily a sport of Midwestern industrial towns in the United States, professional football eventually became a national phenomenon. Football's increasing popularity is usually traced to the 1958 NFL Championship Game, a contest that has been dubbed the "Greatest Game Ever Played". A rival league to the NFL, the American Football League (AFL), began play in 1960; the pressure it put on the senior league led to a merger between the two leagues and the creation of the Super Bowl, which has become the most watched television event in the United States on an annual basis

Chelsea FC, the greatest football club in England, defeated The Bindippers aka Liverpool FC 3-2 (4-3 on aggregate) for its first ever Champions League final berth. How wonderful indeed! Now all they need to do is defeat The Scum aka Manchester United in the final and that will make for a truly most memorable Champions League final in a long time. Should The Scum win then that will absolutely suck.............................

Umm that is interesting. It may be because of Italians having to do with Chelsea in the late 90s and early 2000s which as bought a following from Italy/Italians to Chelsea. A notable Italian player who played for Chelsea was Zola. Also one of Chelsea's past managers was Vialli. Vialli played for Juventus and was captain of Juve when he brang them to Champions League Glory by winning the title in 1996 and also the Intercontinental Cup of 1996 (Now known as the Club World Cup). Many Juve fans (like myself) would of opted for Chelsea when becoming interested in the EPL because of this Italian influence. Under Vialli Chelsea won 1 English FA Cup, 1 English League Cup, 1 English Community Shield Cup, 1 European Cup Winners Cup and 1 European Super Cup. Nowadays the Italian influence isn't as big as in the past at Chelsea, but of course once you become a fan you don't change teams so to this day I go for Chelsea. It is probably the case with many other Italians too. Also a small note, Claudio Ranieri who was Chelsea's manager pre Mourinho is now the manager of Juventus. Funny isn't it? *LOL*. Chelsea didn't win any titles under Ranieri but came close. He very much prepared the side that won 2 premierships under Mourinho.

Hey Bud I bet your all confused with all those different football cups I mentioned. I'll try to explain them to you. You probably know of the Premiership and the FA Cup already. These are the 2 major tournaments in English Football. The premiership is based on a ladder and point system and whoever finished first at the end of the season is the Champion. The FA Cup is a knockout tournament so as soon as you loose you are out. This basically eventually has quater finals, semi finals and final. All countries have these 2 type tournaments. In Italy the Premiership equilvalent is called Serie A or Lo Scudetto and the FA Cup equivelent is the Italian Cup or Coppa Italia. Then there is the FA Community Shield. (England). This is a cup played between the winner of the Premiership and the FA Cup. In Italy the equivalent played between the winner of the Serie A and the Italian Cup is called the Italian Super Cup or Super Coppa Italiana. In England you also have a League Cup aka the Carling Cup. Other countries do not have this. It's importance isn't great and many English people I know refer to it as the "Worthless Cup".

In Europe the major competition is the Champions League. In England, Italy and Spain which are the stongest leagues in the world they all get the top 2 teams qualify for the Champions League and 3rd and 4th get to pre-qualify. In other countries they get less teams. There is a secondary less important cup (mainly played by slightly lower class teams called the UEFA Cup as well which has a similar format to the Champions League. The European Super Cup is played by the winner of the Champions League against the winner of the UEFA Cup. In the olden days it was different. (Pre year 2000). Basically the Champions League was contested only by clubs that finsihed 1st and 2nd (and not long before just 1st place) and there was another cup called the Cup Winners Cup which was contested by the winners of all the Cups. Ie the Fa Cup, the Italian Cup, Spanish Cup, Scottish Cup etc. The UEFA Cup was usually contested by 2 to 4 teams (Depending on whch league) after either 1st or 2nd place of the teams the played in the Champions league. In those days the European Super Cup was played by the winner of the Champions League and the Cup Winners Cup.

Lastly there was the Intercontinental Cup. This was played by the winner of the Champions League against the winner of the equivelent South American tournament. This then became the Club World Cub in the 2000s as FIFA changed it to a mini tournament between the winners of the Champion Leagues of not only Europe and South America, but also North America, Africa, Aisa and Oceania. Of course the European and South American being the strongest always automatically played in the semi finals against the winners of the other 4 continents. The Europeans and South Americans to this day have always been strongest to always contest the final. Juventus has won this tournament twice and AC Milan 4 times. Ac Milan hold the reocrd for a European country and is also the current world champion.

I think that name was coined when the League Cup was called the "Worthington Cup" a few years back.
