Kimi Raikkonen has been reprimanded for his Monaco Grand Prix clash with Kevin Magnussen, while no action was taken over Jenson Button and Sergio Perez's collision.

The Formula 1 stewards investigated both incidents after the race but chose to limit the penalties to Raikkonen's reprimand.

The Ferrari man had been chasing Magnussen's McLaren for seventh place with six laps to go when they became entangled at Loews as the Finn tried to outbrake his rival.

Magnussen was adamant that the incident had been Raikkonen's fault.

"I closed the door at Loews and he chose to go anyway," said the rookie, who fell back to 10th with an engine issue.

Raikkonen had been running third until hit by Max Chilton's Marussia during the second safety car period. He had to pit for repairs and fell to 14th.

He admitted that after that delay he had been willing to make very aggressive moves.

"I tried to overtake on the inside kerb and couldn't make the corner," Raikkonen said of the Magnussen incident.

"He moved a little bit to the left and I went over the kerb and was pretty close to the turn, but the wall was too close and I had to reverse.

"I never hit him until I reversed, because obviously he was behind me.

"But I didn't really care at that point - a few points for eighth place, or 10th place or 11th place, it makes no difference for me."

PEREZ BLAMES BUTTON

Button and Perez's incident happened at Mirabeau on the opening lap and caused the first safety car, with the Force India stranded on track.

Although the stewards felt no action was necessary, Perez pointed the finger at Button.

"I was in a battle with Nico [Hulkenberg], who was ahead, and I went to take the apex normally," said the Mexican.

"I was on the racing line and ahead of Jenson when he clipped my rear wheel and spun me around into the barriers.

"I did not expect him to be there as there wasn't really any space for another car there."

Button declined to comment on the collision.

Just realized that once again the old coot was nowhere to be seen on the NBCSports Monaco coverage... is he hanging with Whitmarsh or something?

Kimi overcooked it by going in, if he'd been able to make the corner then fair enough, but he was carrying just a little to much speed. So IMO it was Kimi's fault

Are you blind? Kimi was behind Magnussen, the only reason they didn't collide is because Magnussen didn't turn in because he saw Kimi coming!
Kimi was too shallow and carrying too much speed to ever make that corner let alone an overtake on the inside.

Pretty stupid rookie move by Kimi!

I just watched the replay (over and over) on YouTube and I agree with you.

When I initially saw it (without the benefit of replays, as I had to answer a
call), it looked like Kimi had gotten past Magnussen.

Thanks for pointing that out. :wavey:

I'm late to the party so sorry :P.

I'm sure if Hamilton over cooked it in qualifying, we'd be hearing how that's just how it is when you push hard and Nico just needs to suck it up. So racechick, please, shut it (even though you won't). You don't know what you're talking about (and 9 times out of 10 you never do when it comes to lewis). Take off your lewis shades for a moment and try to be reasonable for once in your life please. I really enjoy watching lewis race, but I do not think this was Nico's fault at all, he did everything he needed too after he messed up to insure his team mate could still plow on through.

The only thing nico is guilty of is being Lewis Hamilton team mate. Clearly Nico knew if he didn't make this one count there could be a good chance of lewis taking a big ol bite of his time, so he tried for the max. He screwed it up and had to park it. He also parked it well away from danger on the track, that was also already pointed out in the numerous amounts of replay.

If anyone is wrong it is the race directors for calling a yellow sector when everything was safe. You want to be mad at someone, you can be mad at them. Stop using Nico as a scape goat.

This however does not free Nico from all wrong doing - I did think it was a bit of a hallow qualifying and in turn a hallow victory, and I didn't like how Nico cheered at qualifying when he got pole. He did get lucky with poor race directing, and allowed poor race directing to happen because he overcooked his lap.

As far as the race, it was a typical Monaco, some lively moments but over all, pretty tame as usual. Every year I am slowly dreading this race because of how boring it has become. I'm not sure how you can change it to make it more lively, but I'm ready for Spa, Montreal, and Japan already.

Yeah, I'm sure you're sure of that, because last year when Nico was told to hold station leading to Lewis podium finish, and Nico getting fourth all the Lewis fans were celebrating and jumping for joy right along with Lewis on the podium. You seem to wear shades yourself, think before you attack because you simply come off looking rather uninformed and foolish. Thank you for making your only contribution to the thread a personal jab about someone's opinion.

I'm entitled to give my opinion and I think Rosberg acted deliberately in quali, as do several others on this forum and also up and down the pitlane. So I won't shut it. I'm not sure why you're having a go at me , but a little reminder to you. On this forum people are entitled to their opinions, what they are not allowed to do is attack others holding differing opinions. So you think Rosberg's qualifying misadventures were entirely accidental? well that's fine, youre entitled to that view. I disagree, and that's fine too. So watch it with the personal attacks.

Attention girls and boys! Recently racechick when to a lot of trouble to spell out for us all the Twilight Zone - "that grey area that lies between what you can, and what you cannot post on this forum"

Please take the time to go back and read this carefully. >>Link Here<<

Specifically it included this section:-

Personal insults

An outright insult on another member of the forum is strictly against forum rules and action will be taken against the offender. Neither will we tolerate implied or indirect insults, of the following nature;
'only an idiot could think such and such' / 'you would have to be a fool to believe that' / ' only a moron could fail to understand this'
You can still give your views without being insulting by saying something along the lines of
' it is beyond me how anyone could hold these views'.

There have definitely been a couple of occasions above where, had I got to them before RC and WB posted in reply I would have definitely taken to them with the mod editing tools available to me. As they have already replied, I will leave it with this post, hopefully making it clear that IMO some of the recent content has definitely ventured into that twilight zone.

Thank you, Spanky…agreed. It's quite easy to express our thoughts without that extra bit. Onward and upward.

So as I write, I just noticed Wolff come out to say that he will be working with "sensitive" Lewis "to put him back in shape." Seriously?! Is Lewis now a broken doll? Admittedly, that may not be what Toto meant but in the age of the ever popular and encouraged PR-speak, you would have thought he would have said something a bit more strait forward…something like: "we'll have a sit down before too long and just ensure he's in a good place" or something to that effect. Instead, he just fed the media with bytes they can now take and spin 22 ways till Sunday. Before long, Lewis' management team will be getting offers from duct tape and glue companies for personal sponsorship opportunities. :hehe: OK, admittedly a little overdramatic there but you get my point…

Such fun!
