Hi people, I'm new to this website and was looking for a bit of advise. I'm considering going to the Turkish GP this year and was wondering if anyone who has been could give me some advise on anything concerning the race weekend, i.e travel from istanbul to the circuit, best vantage points for general admission tickets, hostels/hotels etc. This will be my first venture to an F1 weekend after a lifelong interest in the sport so I'm hoping to make the very most of my adventure to the east!

Tickets for the whole weekend are only £65 from the official website, with return flights available from Manchester and London for under £200 (through Turkish airways) so Turkey certainly looks value for money for an F1 experience!

Any infomation will be greatly appeciated.

I went in 2006 and had a fantastic time! I sat in the grandstands by the last two turns. Turn 8 is also a good place to watch. I stayed in Sultanamet where fairly resaonable hotels can be found and its right in the heart of old Istanbul (near the blue mosque). Istanbul is amazing. My best city in the whole world!! So if you can go for longer than the GP, there's loads to see!.
Busses run frequently from Sultanamet to the track-specially laid on for the race. You have to pay but its very cheap. It takes about an hour but is somewhat dependant on the driver you get, they seem to have difficulty finding the track and both raceday and quali the fans ended up directing the drivers  So allow more time than you need. Take food as the track food is very limited and expensive but be prepared to buy water as security is tight and you cant take drinks in. Enjoy!

Fly into Alanya and have a look round before heading up to Isatanbul. Side, Aspendos and Ephasus are well worth a few days each.
