It is natural that hamilton and his fans would continue to complain of wrongdoing by rosberg, especially when hamilton has beenoutperformedin both the qualifying session and the race

He wasn't outperformed in either.
Well done Mercedes on another brilliant one two. Next race, your fastest driver will show you how it's done properly.

Ah, that's right! Hamilton wasn't outperformed. It was something in his eye. My apologies.

You are really pissing me off now. Are you saying he didn't have something in his eye? Some people are just unbelievable.

You are really pissing me off now. Are you saying rosberg intentionally caused a yellow flag in qualifying? Some people are just unbelievable.

For the record, racechick, I respect you and your opinion, and generally I do the utmost to respect it, and I am so $#@!ing drunk right now and the fact that I can still coherently type is the truly unbelievable thing right now

Niki Lauda says feuding Mercedes Formula 1 team-mates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg overstepped the mark with their behaviour at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The war between the pair blew-up at the weekend when Hamilton felt that Rosberg had driven off the road deliberately in qualifying in a bid to secure pole position by disrupting his team-mate's lap with yellow flags.

A stewards' investigation into Rosberg's actions ruled that he had done nothing wrong, so he kept the pole position that helped him to an important win.

Fresh off the back of a row between the two drivers at the Spanish GP, when Rosberg was upset that Hamilton went against team protocol to turn his engine settings up in the closing stages of the races, relations completely broke down between the pair.

AUTOSPORT understands that the two men are no longer on speaking terms, and it was their lack of communication during post-race ceremonies that has particularly upset Lauda.

When asked by AUTOSPORT about concerns of distrust between his drivers, Lauda said: "Lewis not happy finishing second is normal, but in the end he has to accept another guy was quicker. This is very simple in racing.

"What I did not like, and I have to say, and I will tell him this on Monday, is that when you are up there [on the podium] and you don't say hello to your team-mate, which Nico has always done, that is not good.

"It's not because I am well educated, but it's for the brand Mercedes. This is something I start to worry about now, but it's easy to fix."

Hamilton conceded that the Monaco podium was the first time there had been no communication between himself and Rosberg after the race.

"We never really speak on the podium," he said. "The last four podiums I will just say well done to him, and after we would say this is unbelievable what the team has achieved.

"This weekend we didn't. But we will I'm sure in the future."

LAUDA VOWS TO SORT IT

Lauda plans to talk to both drivers in the coming days to get their perspectives on the situation at Mercedes, and he is hopeful that things will be better in Canada.

"I spoke to the drivers before the race and it is not finished," he said.

"I understand all the comments and I have to wait two or three days, but before it goes to Canada it will be solved.

"I will speak to them like I always do. They always call me when they have problems, so I think it will sort itself out.

"It is normal. I had the same with [Alain] Prost. I hated the guy, but at least I said hello in the morning.

"There are certain limits and these certain limits I can reintroduce because I speak their language, the drivers' language, and they do understand me, they like me and there is no issue."

The only image this conjures is Papa Niki grabbing the pair of them by the ear and forcing them to shake hands. :hehe:

I think Lauda is probably one of the best people Mercedes have taken on purely because of his no-bullshit approach. He certainly has me laughing every time they speak to him on TV.

That's the sort of thing they could have been missing with Brawn's departure!
But, it looks like Lauda has stepped right in and done what needs to be done!

Which seems to have worked:

 wrote:">Hamilton denies Rosberg rift

Lewis Hamilton insists he has cleared the air with team-mate Nico Rosberg, but in the aftermath of the Monaco Grand Prix there was an overwhelming feeling that a degree of toxicity remained.

The atmosphere on the podium was positively poisonous after Hamilton finished runner-up to Rosberg, with the German securing back-to-back lights-to-flag wins around the streets of the principality to end the Briton's run of four successive wins.

Forget a polite nod of acknowledgement or even a terse 'well done', there was not even a glance from one to the other at any stage.

It was as if they were complete strangers rather than Mercedes colleagues who had just secured a record-equalling fifth one-two.

Without doubt Hamilton appeared thoroughly outraged at what he saw as an injustice during qualifying when Rosberg, on provisional pole, out-braked himself into Mirabeau in the closing stages.

The resultant yellow flags then thwarted Hamilton's bid for pole as the 29 -year-old following behind was on a quicker lap and would likely have claimed top spot on the grid.

Although Hamilton was rarely more than a second off Rosberg from the start of the blue-riband race, for the first 60 out of the 78 laps he did not have a single chance to overtake.

A problem with his left eye then saw him fall behind the German and almost into the clutches of Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo who hounded Hamilton over the closing stages, but the Australian ultimately had to settle for third.

After the podium, the post-race press conference was equally frosty, with Hamilton refusing to answer questions with regards to the nature of his relationship with Rosberg.

Later in the day, and with his mood having softened, it was a far different Hamilton that was involved in a separate press briefing.

Asked whether there was anything he needed to clear up with Rosberg, he replied: "No, not really.

"We've sat down and cleared whatever air was needed to be cleared, and we've been through the data and seen what needed to be seen. I wish you guys could see it.

"Otherwise, we're good. It was a difficult weekend, but what doesn't break you will make you stronger. I can only get stronger for this weekend."

Pressed to expand on the nature of the data, Hamilton said: "I saw something late last night (Saturday). All I could do was smile."

As to whether Rosberg's actions in qualifying were deliberate - and he was ultimately cleared by the race stewards - Hamilton said: "Look man, the weekend's done and dusted.

"We've a one-two for the team, so let's just focus on moving forward. and I plan to be stronger in the next race.

"We'll continue to do what we do, work with the team. The team is the priority and that's what we have to keep in front.

"We want to get the points for the team. I didn't do anything silly, just looked after the car."

Hamilton also insisted his remarks with regard to taking a leaf out of Ayrton Senna's book and liking the way he did things was nothing more than a joke, although the tone at the time suggested otherwise.

Despite Hamilton's remarks on moving forward, Press Association Sport understands the duo are no longer talking to one another, with their relationship at rock bottom.

For both men, for the rest of the season, they will have to endure an emotional rollercoaster as there will be one winner and one loser per race, and of course, only one of them can clinch the world title.

With Mercedes 141 points clear of Red Bull in the constructors' title race, and with the duo romping clear in the drivers' standings - with Rosberg again four points ahead - Hamilton would like to believe the season is "running successfully".

However, he added: "It is never going to be perfect because we're fierce competitors.

"You can never expect us to be best friends and compete as fiercely as we do, but we will remain respectful -or I will try to remain respectful."

As for Rosberg's take on his relationship with Hamilton, he said: "It's fine.

"We've had discussions, and the benefit we have is we've known each other for so long.

"We always sit down, discuss and then move on, and that's what we've done this weekend."...

Not the entire story quoted but I think this show's Mercedes has a pretty damned good understanding of what they've got going on. It also doesn't mention that Lewis drives the way he drives why keeping a full percentage ahead of Nico in the fuel usage dept. That's one Kg of fuel, not a bad advantage throughout the race. I'm glad Lauda recognizes Nico's thoroughness and talent in car setup, but in the same breath says it's not enough to beat Lewis' seat of the pants set up.
ESPNF1-Mercedes non-executive chairman Niki Lauda says Lewis Hamilton is the more naturally talented driver at his team, but that tension with Nico Rosberg has now ratcheted up a level after the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.

Rosberg beat Hamilton to victory in Monaco, but only after a controversial moment in qualifying when Hamilton's final attempt at pole was ruined when he caused yellow flags by sliding down the exit road at Mirabeau. Hamilton was on a quicker lap at the time, but by securing pole position Rosberg went a long way to ensuring victory on Sunday.

Lauda thinks Hamilton is the more naturally talented of the two but that Rosberg is working in different ways to get results.

"Lewis, from my point of view, has a 0.1s or 0.2s advantage on Nico because he can get the laps in qualifying in order," Lauda said. "Nico is working hard, he's my type, with the mechanics the engineers with the tyres forwards and backwards.

"So we have one natural talent, who is very emotional, and we have another guy who is doing the same job in another way. We are in a very comfortable situation with two different drivers, but in the end they do the same result. For me it's a very good situation."

I think Lauda can give Hamilton a lot of what he needs to harness that talent.

Hmm…interesting interpretation. When I saw that quote, I thought Lauda was going to by-pass the doctors office and simply remove Lewis' pair himself. :hehe:

I'm incensed, it reads more like a lynching, since you know... Lewis is black.
