Drivers arent allowed to call pitstops at Merc, the central strategist calls it and does so in favour of the driver running first. Thats fair enough. its also why Lewis was screwed when Nico went down the escape lane in quali and secured pole, and why he was so angry.

Good racing between the two Mercedes drivers before Lewis' issue, which was unfortunate, but good that he stayed ahead of Ricciardo. There were a lot of incidents today, but I'm really happy for Bianchi and Marussia getting their first points in F1. If they can finish ahead of Sauber too (as a Sauber fan, I really hope this isn't the case) come season end, that would be amazing, but there is a long way to go. Also a big shame for Kimi, having such a great start and then being hit by issues. I think he could have had a very good shot at a podium today.

Edit: This result could have sealed Caterham's fate, actually.

RC, are these post-race interview quotes? If so, very telling stuff. Kinda like a few days after the Bahrain GP when Nico claimed he sat down with Lewis to talk about the hard racing and when asked, Lewis looked so shocked and puzzled cuz he knew no such sit down took place. Not sure what Nico feels he benefits from saying such things when they are not true…but whatever.

Good racing, because of things already mentioned by most. Congratulations to Nico on what could be his last win of the year. Ricciardo fantastic drive! BTW, enough with this Re-CHI-ardo bussiness, he pronounces his name the same way the announcers do. :D

Kudos to Mags, on a very entertaining drive, same goes to Ericsson, but a historic moment for Marussia and Jules Bianchi. He man handled that car and put it where it had no business to be, I hope Ferrari took note.

On to Montreal, the other French speaking circuit on the calendar. Mercedes took a huge step towards a perfect season today. :D

Yes. Post race on Sky.

... Still disappointed in Kimi. He was up early and running a good race in 3rd until the safety car then got roasted the rest of the way...

He had to come because of a puncture and when all was said and done, he came out "dead last"!!
From there he finished 12, which ain't so bad, even if it doesn't earn him any points!!

Chilton hit Kimi during the first SC un lapping himself and that gave Kimi a puncture.

Really annoyed by that, cost Kimi at least P4 and probably P3 as the Ferrari power would have likely kept him ahead of Ricciardo. Actually suprised Chilton didnt get a penalty for that, maybe the stewards missed it...

Of course they missed it... :banghead:

Fair enough... it's too bad he doesn't have any pride!! :(

Yes, I saw all of that. That's what I mean by "roasted"…meaning caught out with puncture/bad luck, slower traffic, etc…falling back from 3rd to double digits and out of the points. I was so optimistic that had he maintained a podium finish, it could do so much for his start of momentum. It's unfortunate but...

My apologies!! And, yes, I was hoping for much more for him, this time around at Ferrari!!
But, it ain't over until the fat lady sings, so here's hoping to future success!!

Thanks RC. Just saw the interview. Lewis is pretty serious about this whole affair and seems to have taken on a trust no one attitude towards his racing. Very much a new game face in preparation for a business trip to Canada in a fortnight.

Such fun!

Well done to Rosberg today!! It definitely accentuates how much better he is than lewis hamilton at the monaco grand prix. He didn't need any cheap excuses over the radio like "something in my eye" or any untowards falsities.

I find it quite odd how many of hamilton's radio transmissions complaining to the team about this or that end up on air relative to how many of rosberg's transmissions end up on air. It's like the networks need to give a reason why hamilton isn't winning. Perhaps it's because rosberg doesn't whine as much as hamilton does about every little thing. Perhaps it's why rosberg is just better.

BRAVO ROSBERG FOR BEING THE BETTER DRIVER!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Sagi, no need for apologies, mate. :)

I'm still hopeful of some sort of red resurgence to add to the spectacle…behind the Mercedes AMG 1-2s of course (he says, selfishly :hehe: )

And, just as selfishly, I will amend your comment to IN FRONT OF the Mercedes cars!! :wavey:
