...Personally, I was hoping that the fireworks this season were going to be at Ferrari and not at Mercedes!

Oh there were fireworks at Ferrari this year alright, but they were between Luca and Stefano. :hehe:

Not really... since Domenicali was a dud as TP! :whip:

Because Manchelli, a man with no motorsport experience, and isn't allowed to talk at press conferences is SO much better.

Another annoyingly long name to remember, although I suspect not for much longer as he'll be thrown under the Ferrari success bus.

...That may be my only real disappointment this year…Kimi not doing well, or as well as I had imagined...

Sounds like you're disappointed that Kimi isn't beating Alonso, more than anything else!!

Not necessarily beating Alonso as much as fighting for position with him…let the best man win. In terms of fireworks, Alonso is always good for a rage or two, especially now that he's miffed over lack of recognition/praise/dap/lov'n (whatever you wanna call it). Still early days for blood to appear on the Ferrari garage floor.

While on the subject of Alonso, now that Nico has buttoned up another two years with Mercedes AMG, Alonso will either have to go to McLaren or Red Bull. Does he have the stones to take a punt with McLaren Honda, not knowing what that Honda package will bring? Worst yet, does he have any confidence in McLaren finally sorting their aero deficiencies? He's got problems.

Unfortunately, not everyone in the world is named "Smith" or "Jones"!
Nor are fruits all that popular as surnames!

You forgot to mention the status quo as an option!

Emm, I kinda overlooked that as a possibility, what with his clock ticking ever-loudly and the red slide not really showing much signal for optimism. I suspect Alonso may have it in his head that he's spent this much promised time in Maranello and barring a decent pay packet, he has little else to show for it. That third WDC is the proper footnote on his legacy, all of which can be so carelessly written off with the same 'ol empty promises. He may be thinking greener pastures is the last/best hope.

Then there is the ogling of every talent that roams the paddock and one Ross Brawn that could help Ferrari's upswing. That's still two years off before any real fruit ripens for Alonso. Hence, "he's got problems."

It's possible Ferrari could turn things around a lot faster than 2 years

Former McLaren and Ferrari driver Alain Prost has some advice for those beleaguered F1 teams -- "do something different".

"If you compare them to Red Bull and Mercedes, you see that Ferrari and McLaren have only continued to work in the same way as they always did," the quadruple world champion is quoted by Spain's Marca newspaper.

"Sometimes you have to stop, make a plan and start again. Sometimes you have to do something different," Prost added.

The F1 legend believes Ferrari's problems can be traced back to "when Michael Schumacher left", while McLaren's decline began when Adrian Newey switched to Red Bull.

According to swirling rumours in Monaco, McLaren could be looking to boost its fortunes ahead of the works Honda partnership in 2015 by making a swoop for Fernando Alonso.

"Fernando would be welcome back at McLaren," McLaren 'supremo' Ron Dennis, who clashed so infamously with the Spaniard back in 2007, reportedly told the Italian press.

"You're surprised that I'm talking about Fernando? I don't have any problem -- the most important thing is for us to win again.

"In 2015 we have the Honda engine and we need a great driver."

McLaren's current lead driver, Jenson Button, was asked by Spain's AS newspaper if Alonso will be at McLaren next year.

"He has a Ferrari contract," the smiling Briton replied.

"Yes it would be a great challenge to have him as a teammate."

According to two British F1 correspondents, there may be some truth to the Alonso rumours.

Jonathan McEvoy, of the Daily Mail, cited 'sources' as he reported that 'meetings' have already taken place.

And The Times' Kevin Eason agreed that "It is an open secret that McLaren have approached Alonso".

However, while Alonso has sounded frustrated with life at Ferrari recently, returning to struggling McLaren might not be at the top of his wish list.

"I'm happy," he told France's L'Equipe. "I have a great life, I'm a Ferrari driver -- it doesn't get much better.

"A third title would be the icing on the cake for my career. So many great drivers have won three titles."

Flavio Briatore, close to Alonso throughout his career, said in Monaco: "Fernando has a contract with Ferrari, so it's out of the question to go elsewhere unless something extraordinary happens.

"He, like everyone else, has difficult moments, and like every driver he wants a competitive car, and he can't solve the problems of an entire team by himself," the Italian is quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

I've read somewhere( can't remember where) that Button is close to signing a one year rolling contract( I think it was called rolling) with McLaren. So if Alonso is to go there, are they planning on dumping their esteemed rookie who has just out qualified Button?

Do you mean Button? So you think they'll keep Button? So what, Mag goes ? Or no Alonso?
