Its the Steering input that looks the most dodgy.
I suspect that Nico will keep pole at the end of this, as it would be to hard to prove that Nico is guilty of doing the mistake on purpose.
There are really two issues the FIA/Stewards of the meeting should be considering…the most obvious being the "error" but the second is Nico knowing that Lewis AND everyone else behind him was on a hot lap and chose to reverse out onto the circuit in front of them. If he really wanted to sell that "error" rationale, he should have just shut it down in the run-off area and climbed out of the car. If the FIA/Stewards leave that reversing issue off the table, then Nico's chances of getting away with it increases dramatically. I don't see how this ends well outside of a grid spot penalty for Nico. I wanted Lewis to win this race but wouldn't have minded if Nico beat him fair and square…another 1-2 and back-and-forth in the WDC would have been fine with me…but to get pole and win like this? Disgraceful...
If Nico hopped out the car after making "the error" and left the car there, then he would get DQ for Q3 wouldn't he? A driver must bring the car back to the pits under its own power after each Quali Session, So Nico had to get out of that escape road and bring the car home. So Nico shouldn't get any punishment for reversing out, unless he back out right into the path of someone.
Its only the Steering input that plays against Nico i think.
