...Favoritism that leads to one driver winning is what breeds the animosity. Mercedes has done a good job of steering clear of that.

Luckily for Mercedes, at the moment, there isn't anyone breathing down their necks for the WDC!
It will be interesting to see what happens if that changes.

Why is anyone assuming nico is going to have some sort of outburst if lewis wins monaco and canada? I've yet to see nico lose his cool in the four years that I've been watching the sport. Yes, he's never been in this situation before, but I don't accept that alone as a valid explanation. Is this assumption just based on similar situations historically or his past demeanor or otherwise?

Nico is no walkover, on the track or off. Neither does he have histrionics. If he gets beaten he'll deal with it. He's got the best car on the grid and will want to retain it for next year to have another shot at the title if this one fails. It won't be looking good for him if he finishes behind Lewis in the next couple of races but I don't expect Nico to crumble.

Agreed. Other than his natural mental strength, I'm sure he gained even more while being Schumacher's teammate for three years, cuz Michael is 80% of what anybody talked about with Nico. I'm sure he's quite used to "michael this", "lewis that", etc.

I agree geet. The high road. Plus, he's a better driver today than he was before Lewis showed up. At least we know Mercedes isn't building a car to suit only one of their drivers. Or giving Lewis Nico's wing.

Just my personal assessment, Geet. I've been watching the progression of Nico's body language, the things he says, etc. over the last four races and each time he loses to Lewis in qualifying and then the race, the level/degree of tension increases (maybe marginal but still apparent). He, Nico, hasn't been in a situation to this point in his F1 career where, as RC describes it, histrionics reveals itself, but now he's got one person between him and the likely only chance he may have at a WDC…when it's all at stake, that may bring out things in a person that you may not expect. This isn't me "reading into" things…just using my eyes and ears. I don't expect there to be fist fights and that sort of behavior but I am anticipating as mentioned before, a moment or moments where we go: "There it is!" or "Here we go!" Another way I look at it is, if Nico goes through the remainder of the season where he loses most poles and races to Lewis and shows nothing but ice in his veins, I'll be in complete shock. Nico is a fighter and so if he doesn't do something about Lewis on track, this will play itself out in some other way (he is after all, human). As said earlier, I don't know how but I'm convinced it will. I'm likely the only one that believes this and that's OK with me…lets watch how this plays out.

-> Rosberg did well against Schumi, over the time they were teammates (in spite of Schumi having more than twice as many DNFs);
-> Rosberg and Hamilton were relatively even last year (Rosberg had one more DNF; but, they were only 18 points apart at the end of the year).

It would seem that this may be Rosberg's "make or break" year more so than Hamilton, considering Rosberg's tenure at Mercedes.
Since they have the best car on the grid, at the moment, and these two have only each other as competition, I'm guessing next
year's car will be "better" suited to the winner's driving style.

p.s. Over the three hears, Schumi had MORE THAN TWICE AS MANY DNFs?

Personally, I hate stats, as they can and are manipulated, depending on what the purpose may/may not be!!

As for armchairs, sometimes it's a lonely place; but, somebody's gotta keep it warm!!

Read this and I've no clue what it is you're even trying to say. It seems as if you're saying that Rosberg is good enough to beat Lewis because he beat Schumacher, but in the same breath you say that he only beat Schumacher because he had double the DNFs?
