I'm ready to call it Lewis's title now and I think he has the chance to write some great records into the books in terms of consecutive wins.

I really don't like this notion of record collecting. It seemed to be Vettel's obsession, meaningless stats, collecting them at will like xbox on easy setting. They should be a by product of success not a motivation for it. And I know you weren't implying that, spanky, but the further into the season we go the more it'll get talked about, and it's a barometer of absolutely nothing, but people will prattle on regardless, trying to lend it weight and credence.

I'd really like to believe Hamilton's above that, or it's way down the list.

No, I certainly don't think Lewis is chasing anything but the title for his team and himself. However, I also know he will go flat out every race, I don't think he will slacken off once he knows the title is in his grasp. The records will come and, IMO, they will be well deserved. With a boring year of car performance and racing (IMO) it gives me something to enjoy watching.

Did anyone else notice the fuel use stats towards the end of the race? Lewis had like 3 points ahead of Nico - who said Lewis's driving style wasn't suited to conservation? What it shows is his ability to adapt and adjust, probably better than any other driver on the grid.

Not to take anything away from hamilton...could driving in clean air affect fuel efficiency? cuz idk

Driving in dirty air/slipstream can save more fuel as there is less air resistance. Lewis used 2.5KG less fuel than Nico too so Lewis wasn't using everything available.

The cars are design to work in clean air, dirty are is not only more turbulent it's also hotter which will also play a part in fuel efficiency. The other thing to note is Nico would have been using his DRS more than Lewis so that too would increase fuel use.

Moral is clean cool air everyday!

Word, thanks guys

Lewis worked on helping Nico fix his start issues. Wait for it...

It was a technical problem with the clutch that they need to get to the bottom of, nothing that Nico was doing wrong. Could affect Lewis too I guess.

I won't worry unless the team radio Lewis on they way to startline and tell him to alter his clutch settings , thus allowing Nico to jump him at the start. But a team would have to be crazy to try to pull stunts like that...........
.......oh hang on :scratchchin:

From everything I could gather, in the end, Lewis found nothing wrong. I suspect the difference is what Lewis does during his start sequence vs. how Nico manages his. Seems like something Nico himself needs to sort.

I wonder if this is the race where Mercedes could be beaten. Purely because engine power makes no difference whereas in Spain it would have made some difference. While Mercedes' chassis is really good and Hamilton and Rosberg are both performing well, if Ricciardo/Vettel/Bottas can pull off an outstanding qualy lap and put it on pole they have half a chance. After this I cannot see where Mercedes can be beaten for the rest of the season.

I also think we will have a lot of DNF's with the way cars are handling and the minimal room for error. I will certainly be shocked if Crashtor Maldonado goes 78 laps without sticking it in the wall

Seems odd then that Lewis tested the start clutch thing and Nico the exhaust . You'd expect it to be the other way round. Unless they put Lewis in Nico's car to see how he found it?

I don't get too excited for this race for its overtaking etc, but I do enjoy the Monaco weekend for the spectacle. I also enjoy Qualifying in Monaco more than most other circuits simply because it matters more. And also for the reason mentioned earlier that its high speed precision stull millimetres from the barriers.

My opinion is that this is being read into too much. I think mercedes want to make sure they get the 1-2 in monaco instead of a 1-3 or 1-4 or worse because of a clutch issue.

Although I agree with you, there always seems to be space for a conspiracy in F1!
And, here I thought that only happened in soap operas!! :hehe:

from what Nico says, he was also testing the clutch issue and says he's in better shape for Monacco.
