- 16 May 14, 16:28#401910Well, I'm back from the Spanish Grand Prix, and this is my first chance to comment on here.
Well, firstly, sound. I'm very pleased to be able to say that the sound wasn't as quiet as I expected. You certainly couldn't talk to the person next to you when the cars were passing, and I enjoyed the various noises you could hear. Having said that, as soon as the GP2 cars came out, it reminded me what the sound had been, and I realised just how much quieter they are. Perhaps races with the GP2 support races will show more how much quitter F1 is now.
Moving away from that, great race. Dull in the middle (maybe that was just my seats), but it was worth it for the Mercedes duel towards the end. The Merc's were so clearly so far ahead of the field, and it became quite amusing how far, how quickly, they were ahead of everyone else. Having said that, I look forward to watching race highlights again over the weekend.
Racer of the day for me had to be Vettel. I thought he was struggling early on, but was impressed with his pace later on. Worst driver of the weekend, had to be, Maldonado, just for a change. Major liability that lad.
As for Spain, I thought the traffic management en route to the track and out again was brilliant. The circuit was well laid out for fans, and I really liked the F1 village, though it was like a sauna inside! The track walk after the race was brilliant, and was great to get a pocket full of marbles. I would definitely recommend Spain as a Grand Prix to do.
Monaco next. Iconic it may be, but I'm not expecting anything too amazing from a racing point of view.
F1 fan. Rugby League fan. Used to be on this forum but forgot log in details. Back for the 2014 season. It's gonna be a good one.
Looking forward for the Spanish Grand Prix in May... For my second live Grand Prix experience.
