plus FA has not done anything bad on track.

Brake testing is not something bad? Blocking pit access is not something bad?

Are you referring to the Bahrain incident there, DD?

He's done it several times.

he brake tested Doornbos in Hungary 06 practice being one

fernando is in 10th place most GP's and to do a kovalainen piquet needs to get on the podium but with Alonso in the team who can see that happening? :D

Is that with or without Symmonds' cattle prod?
#40146
Meh, he hasn't impressed but from what Symmonds has said it's not really his fault, so I'll wait and see what happens.

I personally think the expectations are a little high. The Renault is not the most competitive car, the other driver (who is making an impact and putting it perhaps further up than it should be) is a two-time world champion, he's had several technical problems and the name Piquet has something to do with it. He's getting a feel for the cars, the tracks and Formula 1 in general. By mid-season we'll get some better results from him.

Hmmm take a little look at the other rookies this year. Only Naka and Bourdais have scored points. The rest are still adapting/struggling. I say... let's cut this guy Piquet some slack; he hasn't done so terrible and he is in a tough car to show off with.

To me, the most promising rookies seem to be Bourdais and Piquet. Bourdais just needs some time to adapt, Piquet admitted he has a lot to learn...

I should have said, not as bad as some, sorry. Don't quote me on this, but I don't think that brake testing, although not nice, is against the rules (I wouldn't do it, and that is why people cried 'wolf' in the last race). Blocking in the pit is against the rules and I am the first one to say it 'he deserved the penalty'. However, it was a reaction to a previous incident. But like everyone else in the world, FA is no saint, but in my opinion, he is holier than some.

Actually the correct terminology is 'brake checking', get it right! :P
Ooop's sorry I forgot we yank's butcher the 'proper terminolgy' of the INGLISH language, my bad!

What driver's are you using as your measuring stick?

OK, I don't know the FIA rules and if you say that brake testing or checking is against the rules, I do not recall FA being penalised for it, and sometimes those race stewards show a great deal of zeal in applying the rules. I remember one incident where DC was still in Mclaren and FA applied the brakes early before a corner.

Of all the present drivers in F1.

Of all the present drivers in F1.

Dont you think it would more fair to implicate all the driver's from this past decade?

Yes, it would be, but I don't want people to start saying "yeah but, no but, yeah but, no but it was a different time and era", (you know little britain?)

European 2003, FA has a "technical malfunction" and slows down. I know  he was probably brake testing/checking. But this thread is about Piquet doing a Kovalainen and to do that he has to somersault FA in Q at least. Unlikely though.

Sorry I meant this decade  and cool I can understand that  !

Really don't understand why someone would say LH isn't needed in F1? For someone who was one point of a championship in his debut season and who beat his 2 time WDC team-mate, I think that's pretty special. I'd happily have him at Ferarri. A couple of below par races in a mediocre car and all of a sudden he's struggling. Ridiculous.

As for Piquet, he's been utter dog so far but he should get better, what with that cattle prod waiting nearby.
