Yup, it'll make LG the superior gizmo like IntelMacs, which can run both OSX and Windoze.

Sony have been quite clever in the UK. Everyone who has bought a PS3 has been sent a free copy Casino Royale on blue ray to start their collection.

What, all ten of them? ;)

As of On February 19, 2008, the war is over: Toshiba — the main company supporting HD DVD — announced it would no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders, leading almost all other HD DVD supporters to follow suit, effectively naming Blu-ray Disc the victor of the format war.

...and about a week prior to that, I understand, Walmart gambled on HD-DVD and supplied its stores with truckloads of them. in short order the price dropped to about 1/4 for these machines. The have a cube demo display that demoed both until a couple weeks ago, but now only Bluray. They sell both kinds of movies, but I have yet to see a Bluray machine in a Walmart.
I just purchased an LG 42" LCD that was on a killer sale at The Source
(How CC is present in Canada). It is capable of 1080p so soon I will get an HD satellite tuner and eventually a Bluray.
Apparently, on larger TVs, larger than 37" I guess, Plasma is better for keeping up with fast moving images, but plasma has a poorer reliability record and costs more.

I had my money on blu ray, i feel sorry for people that went out and bought a HDDVD player and the movies.
Then again i feel sorry for my uncle who had laser disc player and bought a plasma tv 10 years ago for over 20k

so what now for Microsofts XBOX console they were going the HDDVD route.. looks like they will have to bow down and go for the blu ray which rival Sony PS3 uses

It's nice to see Apple on the winning side and Micro$oft on the losing end

Oh it is! Micro on the user friendliness and soft in the brain: look at the stagnant Office suite - it hasn't evolved and been modernized since the 90's. Or look at Vista aka loooonghorn - eye candy to cover up that this rebatched Windows XP professional doesn't live up to its hype, has nothing new to offer that Apple hasn't been serving up since its Tiger release 3 years ago
