When asked how the intra team battle was going between Nicco and Lewis , toto had some interesting comments. Comments Whitmarsh would have benefitted from had he heard those pearls of wisdom during his management of Lewis and Jenson.

And when asked how the drivers approaches differed he said.

"You see it everywhere because there are differences in the character and personality."

He goes on to say how they enjoy both drivers and learn from both drivers. That they try to provide an environment where each can flourish,as an individual and work to the best of their abilities.

Not a bit of ........... Nico can ( insert skill) and Lewis is learning. Let's talk about Nico. Nico has done some of the best drives in the history of Formula 1. Non of that. Each driver respected for what he brings to the table and not traded up at the expense of the other. A wise man Toto Wolf.

Mercedes AMG have finally introduced their bespoke new nose cone for its F1 W05. Initially scheduled for introduction at the Australian Grand Prix, the nose cone design had to be adapted repeatedly and failed the FIA crash test three times before passing the front impact test.

However, while the team themselves have said they accept the ruling and will move on, that's not to say we will not hear any more about fuel flow sensors. If they continue to fail at race weekends, then it continues to be a contentious issue.

But more than that, which has surprised some in the paddock, was the position adopted by Mercedes during the hearing. While Christian Horner, Red Bull's team boss, was present at the Mercedes tyre test hearing last year, and called for a stricter punishment out of the court, it was not as if the team had a highly-trained QC inside the hearing arguing for tougher penalties.

Of course, it makes perfect sense for Mercedes to do so - those 18 points Daniel Ricciardo lost out on could come to be significant in the championship towards the end of the season if Red Bull recover. But it was nonetheless quite an aggressive stance to adopt.

If people weren't sure how badly Mercedes want to win this year, they are now...

The Mercedes lawyer did not ask for a stricter punishment, he asked for a suspended sentence to be applied. Whereby further sanctions would only come into play should Red Bull once again breach the rules later in the season. Turning up the fuel as Red Bull did gave them .4 seconds a lap, that's massive in F1 terms. Mercedes wanted to ensure that wouldn't be happening again.

Green light flashing up near the suspension of Lewis' car. Seems to coincide with his breaking point. But would he see that light from his seatin position?

Anyone seen this before, or had any discussions about it before....?

This was mentioned after the race...maybe by Ted Kravitz. I think he said it was just the sunlight catching the front of the (Petronas colour) car & making it look like a green light was flashing.

This was mentioned after the race...maybe by Ted Kravitz. I think he said it was just the sunlight catching the front of the (Petronas colour) car & making it look like a green light was flashing.

That video looks as it's from a practice session, the stands are empty. Whatever it is though it caused the left front to lock up, that's not a good thing.

I find that excuse a bit hard to swallow. Looking at the textures, and the colours (the fact its on a black suspension strutt), and the light levels, I dont see how that can be.

BUT its not the most clearest of recordings, so I suppose he could be right.

I think clearly that's a light, but I don't think it's an illegal driving aid, who knows what most drivers have on their steering wheels nowadays.

Stunning targeting (especially as there is no opposite grandstand that far up from turn 14 on the other side)! Not to mention the reflexes needed to turn a laser pointer on and off in the space of a video frame

It's a light because there's clearly a reflection, although Spanky seems to think he knows exactly what it is, and by am I glad it's Mercedes that has it and not Ferrari, of course when Ferrari deploy theirs it will be a red light.

Not that I have to defend my theory here, because there's little reason to devote time to something so innocuous as a flash of green light but a laser pointer at a distance can move ten or twenty feet in the blink of an eye, so it could have been out of the frame on tenth of a second and there the next. It doesn't have to have been targeted, simply happenstance. Lasers don't have specific range so certainly it doesn't have to be in a grand stand. It's a theory given the observable evidence available, you're welcomed to propose yours.
