So it seems that the 6 large teams have all decided to scrap the cost cutting measures, interestingly though of the 6 teams in the steering committee the one team that wanted the cost cutting measures, Williams, voted against it; and there are reports that the FIA will cut costs by standardising parts and bringing in Active Suspension again, something Williams are very good at.

Image Is Ferrari good at it, too?

That was back in the early 90's and we were very ordinary at it, to say the least

Formula 1 has dropped its plans for a cost cap in 2015 after leading teams said they were opposed to the idea.

Cost-cutting will instead be achieved through rule changes, said Jean Todt, president of governing body the FIA.

The six teams in the sport's rule-defining strategy group rejected plans for a cap agreed earlier this year.

And Todt said he could not impose the cap "if the commercial rights holder [Bernie Ecclestone] and six teams are against it".

He added: "It's mathematics. In this case, no more cost cap."

Under F1's new governance structure, the six teams in the strategy group - Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes, McLaren, Williams and Lotus - have one vote each, while Ecclestone and Todt have six each. Votes pass by a simple majority.

"In a way, I am disappointed because it may be more difficult to achieve the reduction which I feel is needed," said Todt.

"But everyone says we are all in favour of reducing the cost, and through sporting regulations."

Top teams such as Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes spend more than £200m a year on their F1 programmes, whereas teams such as Marussia and Caterham, who were at the back of the grid in 2013, exist on less than a third of that.

F1 is still governed by the resource-restriction agreement (RRA), a legally binding document signed by the teams which outlines limits on research and development.

But there is a widespread belief the RRA has had only limited success.

Ferrari and Red Bull left the now-defunct umbrella group the F1 Teams' Association following claims Red Bull had ignored the RRA, which the world champions denied.

Red Bull have made clear their opposition to the idea of a cost cap, and in recent weeks McLaren too have said they disagree with it in principle.

We all know that the RRA is a complete joke... cost cutting needs to happen now (2015) or by the time the cost cutting by sporting/technical regulation change come around there could only be only six teams; assuming that Williams/Lotus are still competing, both the aforementioned teams have had recent financial issues.

Finally, a sensible decision.

Edited for you ;)

Thanks for that link!! I skimmed through it quickly; but, read enough to recognize how it's actually possible.
In the end, what you earn isn't the only consideration, since it's what you spend that will put you in the red!!

Saying about small teams pay more. I read an article a long time ago saying Red Bull paid a small wage but bonus money per points was more than other teams.

So yes someone like Caterham might pay a better basic wage than Red Bull but you would get paid more at red bull

But, at Red Bull, there is an incentive during the season! Then again, I'm betting Caterham's "guaranteed" wages go a long way!!

Caterham is only half hour from me where as Red Bull is a hour, so Caterham would win it for me.

Well Lotus is closest to me but they where not mentioned.

I had a friend in Didcot - I could never square the location to the pinnacle of motorsport . It would be like finding NASA in Des Moines.

Didcot is the place to buy a house at the moment. No one wants to buy houses there because of the power station. However that is getting knocked down so the eye sore will be gone in a few years (unless they list them)
