RBR deserve the penalty... Daniel Ricciardo? Unfortunate. He drove brilliantly that day, just as he's done in the other Grands Prix so far.

But the illeaglity of the car is what made it brilliant, so it wasn't a brilliant drive. It would be like discovering an able bodied person won a medal at the paralympics, then wondering why they took his medal back.

If they have representation in the proceedings then they likely filed a complaint as they're being forced to use the sensor RBR is unwilling to use. Seems like they're providing support to all of the customer teams.

Yeah, but so would a lot of other drivers if their car suddenly found 0.4sec a lap..

Just love this example because it is so true. Yeah I wouldn't say Ricciardo's drive was superb. Lol remember how CONFIDENT Horner was about the result of the appeal. :hehe:

Jabs you asked as to why Mercedes got to say so much in the Red Bull case? Well they provided technical testimony against the "proof" RBR said to have possesed.

This is the courts decision but also note the reference to the Mercedes technical rebuttal of Red Bull's "evidence".

"A [team's] fuel flow model does not measure, but rather estimates, the rate at which fuel flows into the injectors based on how the engine is expected to perform. It is, therefore, based purely on a software calculation."

Evidence provided by Mercedes' electronics head, Evan Short, helped the court come to the decision that Red Bull's evidence was not permissible.

"The court also noted with interest the remark made by Mr Short, race team electronics leader for Mercedes AMG, regarding the impossibility of reading some of the data shown on the graph, because they were hidden by the 'noisy signal' emitted by the vibrations of the engine during the runs."

Cheers. I was trying to understand legal why they could say anything. If the FIA brought them in as a subject matter expert I can understand that.

Looks like Marko thinks the problem with Vettel is his chassis, just in time for Europe.
GPUpdate "We don't understand why Vettel's tyre wear was so much higher than Ricciardo's," Helmut Marko, a long-time advisor for the Milton Keynes-based squad, is quoted as saying by German magazine Sport Bild.

"We are now investigating whether his chassis was a fault. When a new one is ready, he will get it."

If the chassis is not the cause, Marko admits that it could take a long time for Vettel to fully resolve his issues.

"This year is so complex that even the engineers don't understand everything," he said. "That makes it even harder for Seb to tune the car to his needs. But he is a perfectionist. He will tinker with it until he gets it right."

Maybe Red Bull should switch Daniel's and Seb's chassis; imagine the uproar if Daniel still kept beating the four time world champion!
