As has been pointed out several times. The tyres caused a safety issue. They were not fit for purpose, the engines are...... if you've made them properly.

I have no problem with Luca voicing his opinion, that's his right. But I take issue with him trying to sneak around and get the rules changed in Ferrari's favour.

Mercedes didn't complain about the tires last year .....

Oh come on!!

Mercedes began complaining bitterly about the tires from the get-go. Here is one and here is yet another source as examples of the sort of very loud and very public complaining/campaign that Mercedes began from the start of the season. Long before the safety excuse came up. Pirelli was adamant that the tires were safe and multiple teams did not buy the need to change the tires. In the end, it was a mid-season rule change without unanimous agreement that Mercedes began lobbying for from the start of the season.

"Within the pitlane, the bulk of the 'pressure' put on Pirelli came from Red Bull and Mercedes."

So how come Massa's tire blew? How come it wasn't just the teams that were struggling that had blow outs? Mercedes got the test they were looking for and did not complain after that! Irregardless, you are trying to equate a third party providing something to all the teams that they had no control over, to an engine designed and built and tested by Ferrari and Renault. The sooner Ferrari and Renault stop making excuses and start putting ALL of their resources into fixing the problem, the faster they'll reach a competitive state.

How I wish Ferrari would do some talking with track performance - that would of course be the best response. I'm sure it will happen, so I just have to be patient and enjoy the good racing from others in the meantime.

However, there has been a lot of abuse of Luca/Ferrari because they have continued their opposition to the new engine format. The only comparison I want to make is to Mercedes last year who also began a public campaign, from the start of the 2013 season, to change the tires that clearly didn't suit their car. And I think that is a valid comparison.

I would like to applaud  RC for recognizing Luca/Ferrari's right to voice their opinion.

No need from my perspective to keep going over this any more, last year is history and now we have this year. I can enjoy great racing like we were treated to last Sunday while hoping that its not too long until my team kicks the necessary butts internally, gets their act together and starts competing at the pointy end of the contest.

With the f1 supporters there seems to be 3 types

The first type actually understand how F1 works and have knowledge that they have acquired through observation and experience. These ones are probably least likely to wear all the funny hats, and discuss amongst themselves what can be done to get the team competitive

The second type have no knowledge beyond 1 team, and therefore have a skewed understanding of how F1 happens. These are loyal to the death and will defend the team against the first group or outsiders.

The third group have no knowledge or understanding at all and are able to regurgitate any info or article about the team. These will argue to the death about things they do not understand or have knowledge of. They will not once give up or change tack despite evidence. They will continue to insist things that are clearly wrong because they do not know any better and never understood in the first place

I reckon the 3rd group embarrass the first like they embarrass any F1 fan or even any fan of any sports.

You may be right cookie but I reckon you could apply that to any group of fans of any driver or team . ( the more popular the driver or team, the more the different types of fan present themselves) . I've seen some pretty cringey comments from some Lewis fans that have embarrassed me.

I know a year or two ago, I saw a Lewis fan laying flat on the ground on a curb in Silverstone and you could almost see her hoohah!

No team has ever put the sport ahead of their own agenda.

Are we speaking strictly F1 now or all sports?

Most other sports have an element of self saving; they sometimes do stuff that is in the best interest of the sport to push it forward and keep it relevant. F1 teams are notorious for not doing this ever.

I can proudly say my Chicago Bulls could have easily lost some games to set themselves against an easier team in the playoffs.

Teammate Joakim Noah stated:

"I think losing games to try to play somebody, I think that's soft," Noah said. "That's soft. We're not soft."

Niether McLaren nor Ferrari completed an amazing amount of laps either, but at least the former is in the top half of the times...

Cut em some slack Cookin, obviously reliability isn't the target here. The brains are working night and day back at Maranello meanwhile Mercedes is stupidly making their cars go round and round pointlessly.

I just hope Ferrari don't come to China and blow Mercedes away. That supercooling intercooler might've kicked in to aid Ferrari's comeback. :(

Interviewer: So what are you guys learning by doing all these laps here in Bahrain?

Toto: Nothing, we've turned off our telemetry; we've got a camera on the steering wheel and we want to capture the worlds fastest selfie; and every time Lewis drives past Red Bull he sticks his middle finger up.
