The more the merrier I say! I'm always in favour of plenty of cars, and a nice, big grid.

(From Autosport)

Formula 1 could have two new teams in 2015, the sport's commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone has suggested.

Although the FIA has still yet to confirm whether it has approved any of the contenders for a vacant slot on the grid, Ecclestone revealed on Sunday that more than one team could now be given the nod.

It is already widely known that an American outfit being put together by Gene Haas has been in an advanced state of negotiations with the FIA.

But another team, believed to be led by former F1 team boss Colin Kolles, is also understood to be considering an entry.

Ecclestone said on Sunday that Haas had been accepted and that he had also discussed with FIA president Jean Todt about allowing a 13th team in.

"They will be accepted," he said about the Haas entry. "We have also accepted another team as well. Whether they will make it or not is another story.

"We are happy to have another couple of teams. I have spoken to Jean Todt and we agreed yesterday that if another two teams want to come in we will let them in."

A lot of hypocritical statements there from Bernie; not so long ago he was putting down the idea of new teams; saying that they add nothing to the sport; now suddenly he's welcoming them with open arms. An American team makes sense commercially as having an American team on the grid will mean a bigger crowd at the US Grand Prix'

Speaking of US GP's, do we know if NJ is still going to happen some time?

Is anything Bernie says not hypocritical? :hehe:

On the positive side, a US team would be fantastic to drive up the interest in the sport here. :cloud9:

If I was going to enter the sport as a new team I would look at how well the old "New" teams are doing. That would make me not want to enter a team.

The old new teams don't have the Haas name nor budget. This would be a concerted effort both from a sponsorship point of view and a talent draw standpoint. I don't think any (new) team would be able to make the 2015 season unless they'd been planning a car for a couple of years now. Perhaps come in 2016 when Honda is looking to expand their engine deal outside of McLaren?

On top of that im sure I read the Haas team will be like a Ferrari B team with Haas only constructing the minimum required such as the chassis and aero parts. So unless they completely screwed that bit up they probably would be able to compete with the likes of Sauber at worst!

13 teams is better than 11 however fast or slow they are in my opinion, as it gives 4 more drivers a chance to show what they can do!

It would also make Q1 at Monaco amazing, 26 cars only having 18 minutes to set a time around there :hehe::hehe:

I like the idea of more teams. I wish the races were a bit more easily accessible. I don't mind watching the scrappers fight for non point positions. Plus Traffic adds to end of the race shenanigans. :skidmarks:

If two new teams were to appear for 2015, what colours would you like their cars to be?

We're missing yellow at the moment :(

The bright green of Jaguar is sorely missed by yours truly.

This started playing here this week. It's a good sign that a sponsor like Microsoft is in it. I'd see them jumping the Lotus sinking ship for an US team in a heart beat.

On a more serious note, with Haas getting the nod, who is the other team, or was it just a bargain chip to keep Haas inline

Apparently, it's an outfit called Forza Rossa, put together by former Midland/HRT/Spyker team boss Colin Kolles. They're still awaiting confirmation re. entry.

...The FIA have also admitted they are considering a bid from an outfit called ‘Forza Rossa’ to become the thirteenth entry. Just last week Bernie Ecclestone suggested that more than one team could be added to the current eleven teams in Formula 1.

Not much is known about Forza Rossa, but rumours are they are a group headed by former F1 team principal Colin Kolles, who has worked for Midland/Spyker, Force India and Hispania/HRT.
