Can we get rid of Pastor Maldonado, please? The guy is a grade A sausage.

3 race ban in order for this one, really I'm not even joking.

One of the best races I have seen in some time, I actually lost track of the overtakes; I am really starting to like the new Formula.

Top drive from Lewis to win; especially after the SC closed the field up and had his team mate immediately behind on the softer tyres; I think that Lewis has become a more complete driver since joining Mercedes. The Mercedes engine is definitely the engine to have this season; six of the top 10 were powered by Mercedes and it would have been more if it weren't for the McLaren's retiring!

Really loved seeing Daniel Ricciardo beating Vettel on the track; 13th to fourth is impressive in a car that is reported to have 80bhp less than the Mercedes powered cars.

Maldonado has demonstrated that a leopard cant change it's spots; another piss poor judgement call. The other issue is the low nose seems to more dangerous than safer; the nose acts like a ram, lifting and flipping cars. I think a change of nose design will have to happen on safety grounds!

That's been reported and I haven't' watched it critically yet, but to me it looked like it was a left from tire hitting the right rear and causing the car to flip, which would have happened regardless of the nose. In an open wheel car there will always be more danger, that's the sport. The high noses were deemed dangerous, so now they're talking about the low noses. I think the loudest to complain are the ones that struggled to get the design right and would love to have stayed with a 2013 spec car for ever.

From what I saw; it was six of one, half dozen of the other; I think that it was a combination of both factors, of course we have to take the first corner incident between Massa and Kobayashi in Melbourne into account as well; Massa's car was lifted up as Kobayashi's nose submarined under the back of Massa's car!

Stunning, i gave him no chance when the safety car came out and Nico had better tires and DRS, How he managed to win that is beyond me

This is bordering on sick. Malfunctionado gets off pretty much scot free as usual.

Maldonado handed double punishment for Gutierrez shunt

Pastor Maldonado has been handed a double punishment for his collision with Esteban Gutierrez on lap 41 in Bahrain.

Maldonado had just left the pits when he dived down the inside of the Sauber, launching Gutierrez into a terrifying spin which ultimately brought out the safety car. Maldonado served a ten-second stop/go penalty during the race, and has now been slapped with a five-place grid penalty for the Chinese Grand Prix and had three penalty points added to his licence.

Jules Bianchi has also had two penalty points added to his licence for his contact with Adrian Sutil which left them both with punctures in the early stages. This means Bianchi has now collected four penalty points from the opening three races.

Riccardo's pitstop penalty was way worse.

What. A. Race!!!

Wow. I was up and clapping, I was on the edge of the seat, it was sensational F1. I feel like its back! Its alive!
Lewis AND Nico, take a bow. That was supremely fast, fair and safe driving there, and it was an absolute joy to watch. Hats off Merc, let them race all the way to Abu Dhabi.

Driver of the day, Ricciardo for me, he came from nowhere, and sailed past Seb, internal Red Bull politics aside, that was gutsy! Well done Daniel.

For all Merc and their 2 drivers will (rightly) take the plaudits for the race, Williams and Red Bull do deserve credit. Red Bull are fishing well, especially with Daniel. Massa had a belting start today, and Williams are doing a sterling job so far.

Well done Perez, Force India are coming good, and I just hope we can get The Hulk on the podium soon.

Maldonado, well, IMHO he needs to go. He's a liability, always has been, and is a prime example of why people buying their F1 seat isn't right. Horrific accident, and I'm just pleased Esteban is ok.

But Bahrain 2014 was a thriller. Roll on China and then Spain!!!!

I missed the last 15 laps of the race. I'm still trying to work out how to record from my set top box....

I at least got up to the nasty crash with Gutierezz.... But then my recorder conked out 2 laps into the safety card period....

Just finished the beeb.

What a fantastic race, this is why I always said Barharian is the best Tilke track.

Hamilton and Rosberg really showed how good the top racing drivers can be, fantastic for both of them.

Man of the race? Everyone but Maldonado.
