I never get the feeling he likes going to America. Maybe poor turn out will give him a reason to drop it.

Does America have and extradition agreement with Germany?

I love Bernies smackdown comment when defending the decision.

At the end of the day they run a domestic series in America - we run a world championship.

I honestly think it's a test to see if F1 will stand on it's own compared to nascar. It's had two years here in the states so let's see if the third time is the charm :twisted::twisted:

Those comments by Ecclestone doesn't help very much though. That old man works in very mysterious ways.

Maybe he is trying to introduce motor racing according to pre civil war lines - Nascar for the good ol boys and F1 for the yankees

Apparently he's now struck a deal to host a GP at Azerbaijan. Why one asks?? When's he going to prison!??

Maybe he wants races in places that do not have extradition treaties with Germany

ESPNF1 Bernie Ecclestone believes fans will switch off from Formula One if the sport does not make a few changes going forward.

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has been openly critical of the new sport, arguing the fuel saving aspect is damaging the spectacle. Mercedes has defended the new regulations, saying any changes at this stage would be "absurd", but Ecclestone is worried about the public losing interest.

"I think we have to [do something]," he said. "For sure I don't think the way things are at the moment is acceptable to the public. People who buy tickets for here can go somewhere else. They are expecting to see Formula One and what Formula One used to be."

Ecclestone said the new engines are impressive pieces of engineering, but are not what Formula One should be about.

"What is wrong with these fantastic engines? These engines without any doubt are incredible. The amount of power they produce for a small amount of fuel, but I don't think that is Formula One's business. They should be in touring cars or something."

He believes the sound of the turbocharged engines is still the main bugbear, but is also considering Ferrari's proposal of increasing the fuel allowance.

"I think they can do something about the noise," he said. "If they need another 10kg of fuel or something."

Bernie is a prick and I can't wait till his going away to a German prison where he'll be repeatedly anally penetrated by Gunther. What turns fans off is seeing an F1 event where 60% of the grandstand seats are empty on Saturday's qualifying.

So why did he do the changes then? And after millions of pounds and man hours working to FIA rules he wants to change them after two races. :banghead: he's an idiot! I hate him.

And now he wants a race in Azerbaijan...

Obviously, the grandstands will be rammed to the rafters in that country....

I used to kind of respect the guy. Not like him, but respect him.
Now not only cant I stand him, but I've lost all respect for him. He is the biggest problem with F1. Whats offensive is that he doesn't care about the fans. The fans who will pay to fill the grandstands in Europe and The Americas, but he will take F1 to remote areas where they wont get a decent crowd all in the name of lining his own pockets and inflating his own ego.

Retire Bernie. We are ready for F1 post Ecclestone.
