Yes, Nico won that one fair and square. Lewis made a mistake, two in fact. We have a race on our hands :D

When Lewis did his fast lap in Q3, Sky showed the car in front of him, locking up into Turn 1, & said this could have caused a problem for Lewis who was following close behind. But in his post race interview, Lewis 8-) didn't mention it.....just took it as his problem/fault....typical of him to not blame anyone else.

Would be lying if i said i wasnt a tiny bit disappointed but interesting now to see if Merc will let them fight, Given Lewis's strengths at in-laps hopefully this is something he can exploit tomorrow if he needs to.

Heres hoping for a good fight tomorrow and no outside factors influencing the result :)

I missed the conferences and post quali analysis, had to go out, will try to catch up on BBC highlights. My first thought watching Lewis' first run was that he'd been held up, but then Brundle said he'd got a tow, then someone said he'd made a mistake. Whatever. Lewis won't blame anyone else if he's been less than perfect. S'why we love him...amongst other things.

Edit: @Cheekybro I'm pretty certain they'll let them fight, at least until after last pitstops. Be disappointed if they don't.....but sure they will. :D

Some congratulations in order I think. I've already mentioned Rosbergs excellent qualifying, but congrats should go to a few others, who out qualified their more illustrious, or generally considered faster, teammates. And they are these people......

Daniel Ricciardo :clap::clap::clap:
Kimi Raikonen :clap::clap::clap:
Sergio Perez. :clap::clap::clap:
Jenson Button. :clap::clap::clap:

Yes, good to see Perez get up there after a slow start to the season, and Raikkonen too. And a close race between Hamilton and Rosberg would make for an interesting season I think.

I wish Kvyat was up with Alonso as one of you predicted. I think he's doing great so far for how young he is. (Also, you're racing on my birthday so good luck to you all - just make it interesting, please.)

Should be an interesting dry race that will answer a lot of questions as far as team and driver performances. Vettel vs Danny Ricc will be an interesting one, Seb is obviusoly finding out that when one does not have a 2 sec car there is a lot of scope for incidents and 'bad luck' like gear changes and having to come through the field with some fast and hungry desperados as well as your own battling teammate.

Alonso has a chamce to cement his position in the team. Force India have a chance to claim the number 1 customer spot through a combination of their driver pairing and team strategy. STR could pull a fast one on RBR. Button has no excuse whatsoever for not beating his teammate when starting ahead of him, obviously young Mag has been reigned in and his inexperience on these tracks and at this level needs to be overcome and during the race is the best place as long as he can be quicker and cut the mistakes.

But the one Im looking forward to most is ofcourse the big ticket event, Lewis vs Nico, lets see what proper racing looks like from 2 drivers who do their talking on track

Yeah. Bring it on!!!!

Even if the Mercs were the only 2 cars on the grid, I am sure more people are excited and full of anticipation for the race tomorrow than at any time last year when it was a forgone conclusion that it would be the same fix as always.

Nicos pole was only 1 sec off pole last year, which makes a mockery of all the scaremongering and negativity we have been snowed under with. It was only a few weeks ago that we were told F1 was now slower than GP2. And I would happily take a second off the pace in return for seeing driver skill come back as a factor. Already we are seeing the best drivers make the least mistakes and handle variable conditions better than the others.

For example, the extra torque makes the starts now a question of driver skill and not electronic gadgetry. At least for the first sprint anyway. The noise on tele is still uninspiring though but you forget about that when you got real action

Great effort by Nico, how can anyone now say the Merc competition is like the RBR borefest last year

You only need 2 cars for a race afterall

It's completely different as it's the start of the season, we have a long way to go, we have two drivers of similar weights and heights so it's not drastically set up to a specific driver, both drivers get on and are friends, both are fair and strong, they both know and understand team goes before their own wants.

It would of put me off a little, but yeah good on him for just taking the blame.

Some strange events in that qualifying. Alonso not going faster. Vettel not goin faster. Without any offs or mechanical problems. It was just the pace of the drivers that was slow.

You must not have been watching F1 for long. Lewis often blames others when he fails............

Lets not go back to all the details. You seem to be forgetting Spa where he whined that the team didn't set up his car correctly and posted the telemetry on twitter in a childish fit...... Multiple ex drivers (Brundle/Coulthard) have publically stated that he blames others for this mistakes
