jab you can get F1 with Sky HD (I think) you don't need the whole sports package. Also if you know someone who has sky you can get a code and watch on a portable device. I do this. I either go round their house and watch on the tele or watch on my iPad with sky go. Also if you have( I'm not sure if it's Virgin or something to do with BT?) you can get the f1. And someone is doing it on a pay per view....just pay for each race.
But that aside it's a massive turn off for all but the most committed fans. Not the way to attract more fans to the sport.

Something about places to get it here

Yeah, you can get it with the HD package, which is £10 a month, ontop of the standard channels which are about £25(?). So thats £35 a month for 2 races. Plus the £250 odd initial fee for box and install. Better than £45 a month for the standard + sports package.

I, luckily, had Sky HD already, so didnt need to pay any extra for F1. I think I probably would of upgraded to HD if I didnt have it already just to get F1. But I dont know if I would of joined Sky, just for F1.

Let's face it, the race in Sepang wasn't the best, it was fairly uneventful. But the first one in OZ was pretty brilliant I thought. Regardless of who won and who retired and who ended up on the podium, the race in Melbourne had more going on in the race.

But crowds in Sepang are never THAT big are they? Asian races, bar Singapore and Japan, have always found themselves wanting in the grandstand department.

On the grandstand issue. If Bernie wants filled grandstand he shouldn't have taken f1 away from countries who have historically supported and grown up with motor racing as part of their heritage, and built tracks in countries where the majority of the population have no interest and the tracks are in the middle of no where. Bernie got greedy( got? What am I on about? he's always been greedy, just got silly greedy)

This is why I'm perplexed that anyone gives a poop about a race in Azerbaijan. Just another one of Bernie's follies. What's more worrying is that they'd happily give up Monaco for it.

You can't crap on about heritage then ditch the queen of the scene.

I agree, what's the guy on?? Monaco may have issues with overtaking, but it's steeped in history and atmosphere. It's an iconic race. And the drivers love it. Well the good ones do, because you have to be inch perfect to get the lap time but not clip the barriers. Quli is immense at Monaco!

F**K Monaco and bring back Brands Hatch, or Imola, or Estrolli, or Jerez!

The TV figures probably have a slump because of several reasons:

A) One driver domination over several seasons have saturated people a bit.
B) Races in the middle of nowhere meaning the times they are on are not suitable for live European audiences (Where most of the audience is).
C) Move towards Pay-Per-View TV. I mean look at the BBC figures before Sky, then look at the combined figures post-Sky; they are significantly less (A Million or more). And that's just in one country...

If I was a casual fan Red Bull would have ruined it for me. People want to switch on for entertainment, and dissecting fascinating midfield battles whilst Vettel wins again is for the officianado. There were passages these last four years that were gripping but they were few and far between. In Australia the majority of the races are on at 10pm or mid afternoon, which is OK, even though as an Englishman I miss my lazy Sunday mornings followed by the GP. If you like F1 enough you'll accept when it's on.

The negative press, mainly about the noise, has been the stumbling block this year. As people become increasingly dependent on news grabs for their opinions, the casual fan is just going in with the wrong attitude.

Different ticks for different people. I got interested from the start primarily because of Mercedes Benz being involved (with McLaren) and then quickly found my fav driver (DC) and started liking McLaren as well. So it was more of a brand name which got me hooked and I loved seeing McLaren beat Ferrari (on occasions).

However if I started watching F1 3 years back I doubt I'd be a big fan since I'd be seeing a drinks company kill everyone else 3 years running. So a lot of it comes down to timing as well.

Well even if you look at the traffic on this forum. The last 3 3-4 years has seen the active membership dwindle to what we have now. We used to to have well over 100 posts a day
