I had my first post-baby drinking session. First one in 3months. I am ruined.

Bloody Guinness.

it seems many of my mates used the Dutch courage to post C ocks in Socks pictures of themselves on Facebook. So come on post your pic up on here for a donation.

Worryingly some of my mates could not find any socks

I think today was a day I'll remember for the rest of my life, because it's the first time I took an exam for entrance to college.I had been so nervous for days, people kept telling me to relax or that would only make things worse but I'm the kind of person who can get stressed easily at academic stuff so I had difficulty with sleeping but it was enough for me.So I woke up and got prepared, had to eat stuff even though I didn't want to,since the exam lasts for nearly 3 hours. We came to the place early but there were loads of people already,I kept talking with my family and eating a bit(hey,it's almost 3 hours ok) then it was time I should go into the building.I literally felt so helpless,I hugged my family goodbye and entered the class I was gonna be taking the exam,so it started,I did alright with Turkish but at maths, which I'm good at,I got confused,I felt like fainting,I thought:''Hey how nice, you're gonna have to wait for one more year for college.'' then I tried to keep positive and started to do the geometry questions they were way easier so it made me feel a bit better. However I had 1 hour left and I still had 40 science and 40 social studies questions left so I sorta passed the maths questions I couldn't do.I was fast at science, easier than I was scared of but man social studies were hard as f**k and they shouldn't be asking those to maths&science students like me,I did okay though. Then I had chance to do most of the maths questions I couldn't,exam finished and I went outside, just as I did people in my family kept calling my parents:''How did she do?How many questions did she answer?'' I was like:''Hey,shouldn't you give a space?'' After that we went to eating and then to the beach, tbh I really don't want to talk with any of my friends about the exam, that's why I'll probably stay at home tomorrow rather than going to school. But I'm happy I'll be free for a few days,no studying

Wow that was long and not interesting but it's a milestone in my life :D

It was interesting, for a number of reasons. First of all, I like hearing how people feel when faced with challenges.
Secondly, here in Canada, we don't have entrance exams for colleges/university in most areas of study: admission
is usually based on marks on high school report cards, until a speciality is decided upon.

Thanks for sharing... hope it all goes well for you!! :wavey:

I never understood why relatives (anyone outside your immediate family) need to take an interest in your studies, I have a couple of cousins who have this issue....their relatives (uncles/aunts) seem more interested in their performance than even their parents, wtf? I don't know how I'd react in this situation, I remember just caring about what my parents thought (until I reached uni when I cared about performance for real since I needed results) and that's the way it should be.

Glad you got through it, take a break and enjoy some life elf. :wavey:

From my side it was an eventful day as well. Gave my house for rent today, handed keys over and now I'm at my mums till I fly to switzerland in late april. Kinda in depression right now, no privacy and losing my bachelor pad. :( Ugh

Well done Elfie!! You've studied hard and done your best, no one can ask anymore. And it sound as though you've done very well  keep us updated on your results and your plans.

I thought of you the other day when it came on the news that Turkey were trying to ban twitter.

Thanks so much! That's why I envy countries like UK,USA and Canada,we really have to pursue way more effort, and I think your system is more reasonable than just a few exams like we have here.

Yup,I haven't been stressed from my parents but other relatives make it such a big deal why ffts isn't it my life you don't have to know everything. You're absolutely right about that!
Wow that's like a month but I think you'll get used to that in a while, hope it goes better for you soon

Thanks so much,I will! :D They indeed banned, just like 10 hours after the primary minister said :''We'll cut off twitter and stuff!I don't care what international areas say, everyone will see the power of the Turkish republic'' but hey we can change DNS settings :wavey:

I am not a fan of exams, in all areas, to be honest. They may be necessary for some subjects/professions;
but, generally speaking, there are few jobs/professions where you can't refer to information/guidelines.

Exams are great in determining who has good recall; but, does that necessarily mean that what is being
recalled is actually understood? I think not...

Good luck to you!!

Unfortunately, their curiousity may not be as altruistic as it may be presented!
They may subconsciously (or consciously) be comparing you and your scores/grades
with those of your cousins. Although "natural", it can definitely be disconcerting!!

Ditto here in Uganda. Gotta do well in high school or A'level as we call it which determines what you'll major in at uni. Well done, Elfi!
