I dojt think there is a penalty for unsuccessful appeal. If RBR dont appeal then they look like cheats who got caught and DQed, and thats stays on their record. If however they appeal and even if the appeal is thrown out appeal again or to a higher authority and keep doing this then they can always maintain their innocence and claim they never got a fair hearing

So far the media are not saying much while there is an appeal, once thats over, I suspect we will soon get a flood of associations of RBR with cheating and another look at previous episodes like the flappy wing, and height adjuster etc from the pov of a team actually guilty of entering illegal cars

We have been fully compliant during the race and for the whole weekend so have most of teams. We do our job to be within the regulations. This is a matter between the Red Bull and the FIA and we don't want to comment."

It appears as though they may not have appealed afterall. The deadline was 1200 and at 5 minutes to had still not lodged.

Maybe they did within those 5 minutes as there is silence on the whole thing

They just announced they formally lodged an appeal. For Renault to make a better engine. Over on ESPNF1
Red Bull has confirmed it has formally launched an appeal against the disqualification of Daniel Ricciardo from the Australian Grand Prix.

Ricciardo crossed the line in second but was thrown out of the race in the evening as it emerged Red Bull had ignored an FIA warning about fuel-flow sensors.

This is why I think that even though they were probably within the limit, the appeal won't stand up and that RBR are against that position and have made a stand against it by ignoring the instructions during the race, something they could only do if they were sure they stayed within the limits.

This year, Red Bull and everyone else knew about the fuel sensors and has had ample time to work with that;
but, now they're trying to change the rules?
I wonder what it might be next year?

Really hope they sort out their reliability properly. We need two cars finishing every race.

Technically, I don't think that's what happened.

The teams struggled with them. The tyres started blowing up. Then a lot blew up at Silverstone. So they changed them on 'safety grounds'.

lots of people are not convinced there was a moon landing at all, however the smarter ones will provide a proper argument to back their opinion, and the rest will bore everyone with 'I feel this' or 'I suspect this' and forget that everyone has hunches that without foundation are like Disney fairy tales

I agree with you sagi. The complaining teams were the teams that had cars that were not competitive on the 2013 tires. Pirelli always maintained the tires were safe. Only "some" teams wanted tires changed on safety grounds. There were plenty of other options available to address the problems "some" teams had without changing the rules mid-season.

But in the end, this is history and can't be changed. Lets learn from this mistake and move on.

Even though I don't like so much of the new rules, I sincerely hope they do not change anything mid-season. "If" they are to change any rules it can only be from next year IMO.

Ferrari took RBRs side and complained about the tyres introduced after the Merc test and ended up getting screwed even worse than Merc.

Maybe this year Ferrari will insist the minimum weight is DECREASED and get screwed because their ebngine is seriously overweight

Ferrari took Red Bull's side because they were both against the tire testing that Mercedes did.
