Finally, people are seeing what Bottas showed in lower formula; the future world champion that he is!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed.

Alonso and Raikkonen: Greatest driver pairing at the moment, expecting MUCH more from them, SOON!!

Yes Raikkonen drove like a real champ.

Lmao xD. Weird how he couldn't get a grasp of the brake by wire.

Complaining about the lack of speed in these cars is ridiculously stupid.

Perhaps you could make your point in a less aggressive and far less offensive manner?

Personally I don't like seeing the cars get slower and slower. I guess those who are satisfied with that level of performance are luckier than me.

Wasn't meant aggressively it's a generalization to people complaining here, on Twitter and other places about the "lack" of speed.

They're still going very very fast and improving efficiency which is better than speed.

As has rightly been pointed out, F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport. But in order to continue to be the cream of the motorsport crop, there needs to be new challenges. F1 isn't just about cars chasing each other around a stretch of tarmac. Its been an evolution over the years, taking into account a whole host of technological and scientific breakthroughs. If its all about speed, theres drag racing, or the salt planes in America where land speed records are set. This is about speed at the right time, for the right amount of time. Its about skill to slow down fast and late and find a gap to overtake that shouldn't even be there!!
DRS and, to a degree, KERS are seen as artificial. Perhaps, but they prevent cars from being unduly held back. They provide an incentive to both attack and defend a position that's more than just being a wide car in the corners!
F1 is changing, for sure, but the change isn't half as bad as we were led to believe it would be!!

F1 has been going down hill ever since they switched from aluminum tubs to carbon monocoque construction.

Bloody drivers complaining about being killed. Ruined the sport.

Death is overrated - it's not the worst that could happen to you.

Yes Raikkonen drove like a real champ.

Kimi scored points, even if wasn't the max points, as we all know, a number
of championships have been won by ONE single point, so every point counts.

By the way, I don't have to be mechanically inclined to appreciate F1, albeit
at a different level. Also, I don't have to be able to Google facts and figures
to my liking in order to appreciate F1 racing. For me, it's about the people
and the emotions.

Actually you dont count as one of the plethora as I suspect you wouldnt claim Alonso got 12 points and Lewis zero points because of the difference in the way they 'looked after' their cars
Right?

Hopefully, that was a rhetorical question!
Right?

By the way, what I loved MOST about Magnussen and Bottas was the LACK of hype around their
""greatness""!!

No hype?? Have you kept point with the internet sites over the last few months? Magnussen does deliver the goods, and Bottas has been a favorite of those in the know for quite some time. Ask Lemon.

Maybe I should have said that I didn't hear "much" hype?
Apologies Lemon, I know Bottas is a favourite of yours!!

Kobyashi and Massa: Surprise? Nope!
You're not surprised perhaps because your mind was made up, but Kobayashi's accident was due to (documented by telemetry) brake failure, not for any preconceived notion you may have about his driving performance. Maybe if it had been Alonso or Kimi you would have reacted differently eh?

I didn't say I expected/anticipated it, I said I wasn't surprised.
Maybe I should have said "shocked"?

((Note to self: Don't post when you've got a migraine! :banghead: ))

Tut tubs, I blame Colin, he started this whole monocoque fad.

All because him and some desigers got tipsy one night and thought it would be funny to introduce the word 'c0ck' into the sport.

Which it was.

I know that F1 has to move on and be relevant etc, but I have to be honest here.......I thought Sundays race wasn't like F1 at all.

It looked like the first race of the new electric formula imo. The cars were laughably slow and all the atmosphere has been lost because the engines sound rubbish.

As for the race, well, Merc is the team this years. Sickened with what happened to Lewis but well done Nico.
Easy win in the end.

Didn't really enjoy it though. Maybe things will get better as the season progresses, but I think Bernie's make a mistake here.

Slow, quiet cars with ugly noses......................mmm, not sure that's F1 really.

That's because you're only comparing it to the F1 of the last 20 years. There was F1 before that, you know, and the cars were even slower and uglier than they are today, and furthermore, they used Turbo engines at various times also.
