Lewis is no saint (that wouldnt work in F1  ) Neither is he evil
He is a young lad who has done extemely well early in his F1 carreer and for that reson some people get pissed off. The press has got overexcited(as they did with Mansell and Hill and as foreign papers do with their drivers or teams) and the annoyance people feel for the press they transfer to Lewis. Non of the drivers are "evil", though I can think of one at least whose spotsmanship and interpersonal skills are sadly lacking ( this person is not a championship contender this year  )

Meh. The press rate him too highly when you compare his achievement to those who have done practically the same. He's a great driver, but it's not like he's the best to come along.

Being what could be considered a Saint can work in F1. There have been drivers who have done nothing but good...

I'm pretty sure the spanish press don't see it that way and neither do the spanish fans. Alonso did behave badly but so did lewis and he will always be painted as the good guy buy the press in the UK

Just as Alonso is ALWAYS painted as the good guy in Spain, why does everyone give the British s*** over this? it happens in every country where their star is in the sport

The Spanish get sh** for it too. From the likes of you. Most people want impartial coverage. Bear in mind that for causal race watchers, the coverage is fact. I've been correcting people all week about the FA/LH crash for example. We're knowledgeable enough to look for the truth past what the coverage says, they have only the commentators and pundits to listen to.

The fact is, the British press and McLaren's Army of Fans go to some lengths to portray Alonso as the bad guy in all of what happened last year. Conversely, the Spanish press and Alonso fans try to portray LH/McLaren as the sole villains. Any attempt by those of use outside of the quarrel to point out that both sides were at fault are typically taken as attacks on their side as if from the other. To put it simply, we can't put forward any criticism of LH/McLaren's part without you blaming Alonso for it and we can't put any blame on Alonso without his fans blaming McLaren/LH.

And could you do me a favour please? Stop ending every post with a roll of the eyes as if you're trying to imply you're somehow the smartest person and sole reasonable voice in the discussion.

You're not fond of, um, reading then? I was talking about people outside the forum at the time. That comment was specifically made with regards to the people for whom "the coverage is fact".

Nice try.

Fact is that what Jensonb has already posted on here happens to be the truth about the incident. He's correct, not assuming he's the smartest. Though, he is if he comes up against people who say that Fernando did it. ;)

Jens, I've been in a similar situation all week. I don't think my parents believe it even after being shown evidence, though. :/

Well I hope you corrected all those innocents with the correct facts. Guess you must have done because you know EVERYTHING about Lewis :roll::roll:
Well the facts are-his car was damaged in the first corner and the aerodynamics were shot so when he got close to Alonso his car got sucked into the back off it (autosport.com)
So with aerodynamics already screwd, then the front smashed and underneath damaged and a full tank do you still whine "where is Lewis' superior overtaking?"
If you cant wait to see him do it in F1 I suggest you look up Istanbul Park and Silverstone 2006 GP2-Oh and they all have equal cars there :roll::roll:
#39578
Eh? What are you on about?

What does correcting people about the incident have to do with his overtaking skills? Simple fact is that 99% of people around me instantly blamed Alonso for that incident. He did absolutely nothing wrong. I made that clear. Where you got the rest from is an unknown.
#39579
Someone referred to his overtaking. I didnt sat it was you. There seem to have been one ot two having ago of late.
#39581
Nope not yet, apart from making up places in the second race on the start. But believe me he can do it. Anyway that comment was to whoever said he couldnt, cant remember who :? maybe 6lapsbehind. Just thought you might be interested in what really caused the crash.......and that led on to why he couldnt then perform well with a damaged car
