At the beginning of P1, Lewis' car had a sensor problem & stopped on track. He made his way back to the Pits via the Public entrance/turnstiles. An Oz official asked him if he had a pass. LH in full racing gear including Helmet said..."No...I'm a driver!":D:hehe:

That's why we like him so much.... :)

Liked the interview RC....I've watched it several times... :cloud9::blush:
It never ceases to amaze me, how grounded he is.... 8-)

 he's the real deal!

The only thing that puzzles me is how he can sit out FP1, then jump in the car, drive it with all the new systems and buttons, and less rear grip etc, how is it possible that he beats his much cleverer and technical minded and strong mind round the track?

Or is it only in the races when he has time on his hands that his brain goes to sleep? Maybe in the race is when he forgets not to go flat out all the time till his fuel runs out. Or he ignores the options his engineers give him as his brain is not strong enough to see the benefits and choose one?

Strange stuff

Here is the fastest lap from FP2 onboard. Looks so effortless.

Very smooth and measured. I thought his style of carrying excessive speed into the corner, braking late and power steering with leary oversteer would lose him time compared to the smooth and clever drivers. Those lines through the corners almost make it seem that he experimented a little and found what works, maybe in the sim. But I wouldnt have thought he was clever enough to try those lines instead of the more instinctive brutish and extremely brave that he is addicted to?

Lets compare him to the rocket scientists (who are smooth without also being slow presumably)

Oh well, maybe in the race he will eat up his tyres or run out of petrol

Yeah I had found that video a while ago, then found that one whilst I looked at a Vettel one. I'm worried about Ferrari though, if Merc are having to lift that much to save fuel imagine how Ferrari have to with their thirsty engine.

Nico said Merc were under fueled. So it could be that their engine is actually so efficient/powerfull that they were looking at doing the whole race with LESS than 100 units on board.
Save some weight, turn down the engines and still topped the FP2 times

I posted an article on the 2014 Power unit thread - interesting read

To be fair to the security guard, a man posing as a priest
tried gaining access to a patient in hospital, just recently. :P

Hamilton is so much faster than Rosberg in S3, it's where he's gaining all his time.

I hate to mention it because some people feel it is obsolete but Rosberg had almost a century worth of wet weather running on wets and inters in Jerez, vs basically zero for Hamilton.
somewhat important edit out of the 10 drivers who ran in the Morning of Day 4 Jerez (the wettest day), 7 had very representative wet running. 4 of these team mate pairings competed in the wet today (McL, Ferrari, Merc, Williams) and 3 of them out qualified their team mates today. Coincedence?? Rosberg is the anomaly.

I do consider it a sort of small miracle he pulled it off. Never fails to surprise me. That huge slide was classic LH, we don't get many moments nowadays with these tyres but that one will live in the memory for a while.

That was off another forum, but sums up how I feel :D Felt lewis's pole today was made all the more special the amount of extra mileage Nico has in that car
