Not that I'm a fan; but, WoW!!:thumbup::clap:
BOTH drivers in the points, when "just" weeks ago, things seemed pretty dismal!!
And, today? They're giving Mercedes something to worry about!! WoW!!

Not really. If 1 injector didn't pick a sh!t time to go for a vacation, no one would be a concern for Mercedes at this moment. The first 4-5 races have them reserved in 1st place, hands down.

Did you mean they are worrying about making hay while having Merc engines.

Did you see McLaren anywhere near Merc in that race? Mag drove the car at its potential he came second way behind Merc. Button cruised and collected and benefited from people dropping out plus a Ron inspired (trademark) pit strategy.

The McLaren in Mags hands could be the second best car but how can anyone say Merc would be worried

Yeah. They are the second best. 1st is maybe next season. This season is just being competetive.

I believe it was a little bit of nervous deflection on the part of Sagi that Ferrari have got to compete with not only Mercedes and Williams but a real threat in Mclaren.

Today was quite a nice day to be a McLaren fan. Last year was pretty sh!t for us, and people have enjoyed mocking the team as a result, but it feels great to have Ron back at the helm, and to be enjoying a podium finish again.

Jenson's drive was superb, especially after a disastrous qualifying, which left him out of position. Kevin Magnussen gave a superstar drive, and is sure to be a star of the future.

Hopefully, McLaren will continue to ascend the remaining steps of the podium later this season. They're not yet the level of Merc, but are more than capable of beating the rest.

Kevin did twice as well as Button this weekend. Apart from the fact he is a rookie and has never raced on the circuit, he qualified the car in or above its true place and finished in or above its true place.
Im sorry but Jenson screwed up quali as his 1 lap pace is no good as he always bottles it when the pressure is on. He made up places during the race but only to the cars rightfull position. Did he actually overtake faster cars? He was stuck behind slower cars half the race and without the retire ments and the TEAM strategy at the pit stop he would not have advanced much, you need drivers to maximise the cars potential not just 'did well' or 'make no mistakes'

Kevin drove like a WDC, Button drove like a vastly experienced rookie, Kevein was FASTER throughout the race - cant compare the 2 drives as far as getting the best out of the car

Well, IF these results are extrapolated throughout the whole season, Mercedes should worry.
Let me explain, both Button and Magnussen scored in the top 5 for McLaren; whereas "only"
Rosberg scored for Mercedes. I'm sure you know that McLaren are ahead in the WCC title
by 8 points, thanks to a lack of points from Hamilton for Mercedes.

NOT that I'm expecting that trend to continue; but, this is the McLaren thread, so why not
say something positive about them, eh?

Last I checked, there were a number of teams on the grid and anyone not considering
them "threats" at the beginning of the season, is looking for "trouble". I realize the
dust will settle, soon enough and a pattern will emerge; but, at the time being, no one
has the titles wrapped up, yet!

But Sagi, you have said several times that no one can be written off after just one race, and that its only the beginning of the season. I still dont understand why Merc should be suddenly worried about McLaren. Surely one of the Merc customer teams was going to be better than the rest and why not McLaren. Or do you think they are worried that they will only have 1 car finish and McLaren 2 cars finish every race from now?

At the risk of starting another circular discussion, I will simply RE-post my comment so that you can RE-read it!
I also thought it might be helpful to highlight some pertinent words/phrases.
