I just thought this was quite an interesting quote to stick on here; not that we didn't already know Merc has the best car, but it's nice to see that drivers are openly saying it and not being PR herded into "They look fast but we've got an accurate watch sponsor" etc.

Massa, 32, said he thinks Mercedes has the best 2014 car, and when asked ‘Hamilton or Rosberg’, he answered: “(Nico) Rosberg.“

But when asked who he would put money on for the title, Massa grinned: “I don’t like talking about myself…“

Lol what a loser. Can't take it that the better driver won that year. Bet he still thinks he lost it all because of the Singapore GP.

I cant wait to see Massa in the wet with all that torque and loose rear. IIRC he holds the record for most spins in one race. I think his Finnish teammate will wipe the smile off his face fairly soon

So Horner says Merc and Ferrari have an advantage because they are integrated, and Domenically says Merc have an advantage because they are a Monster car firm. I wonder if those 2 teams that killed Fota are now considering the benefits of a spending cap

Horner added: "The split between chassis and engine is obviously different in our team than it is at Mercedes and Ferrari. We're not totally integrated. We have an extremely close working relationship, and there's an awful lot of exchange of information and ideas.

"The bottom line is Mercedes have got a bit of a march on people. They invested more, they invested earlier. They've got themselves into a good position. If Mercedes were to finish two laps ahead of the opposition in Melbourne, that wouldn't be a surprise, based on what we've seen in preseason testing. It's massive.

Horner's confusing RBR messing up with Mercedes doing well. Or he's saying despite what we told them Renault have messed up. Or maybe other teams didn't go chasing meaningless records at the back end of last season and, sensibly, concentrated on the next year. Either way, in his head, he's setting the stage for a remarkable comeback campaign to clinch the title in the last race.

RB have the largest budget and by his own admission work closely with Renault. So it's basically their own fault, and a bit of clever back-end tinkering isn't going to save them this time.

I beg to differ! I'm sure that any driver at this level of competition would recognize that a season isn't won or lost in one race.
Sure, in retrospect, when a driver wins/loses by one point, it can be argued that points coulda... shoulda... woulda... been had
in any one particular race; but, in the end, it's a season long endeavour, even if it is a nail-biter from beginning to end.

I'm sorry but have you seen his comments about that year? He was particularly angry with Nelsinho and the times he kept repeating to the media of how "he should've won the Singapore GP and thus the Championship"...did you miss all this? He's made quite an effort to remind everyone about how his Singapore GP got screwed (factually it was his own mechanics who f**ked him up :hehe: ) and some people still haven't heard all this moaning, poor Flipper.

First of all, this isn't the right thread for this comment, so I'll move this discussion a more appropriate thread to add my two cents!!

You do realize this is the Mercedes Support thread, eh?

It doesnt matter which thread it is, there will always be some discussions that veer off the topic a little.

Hammer went to the trouble of replying to your post about Massa, you could at least have acknowledged this before changing the focus completely and talking about which thread it is.

Here is my 5 pence worths
Massa campaigned afterwards to get the WDC result overturned and his points for Singers race to make him the WDC winner.

It was pointed out politely that even if the race result was changed then he and Lewis had many more races after that and so the outcome would have been different. i.e. the rest of the races would not have finished exactly the same way allowing his extra points to make him champion

To be fair, this campaign happened mostly while recovering from a head injury, but it is worrying that he recently made the same kind of comments encouraged by Luca

Nope, you are not badmouthing Mercedes. But, in order to honour the moderators' decision,
it would have been prudent to move to the Massa thread! Just a thought...

And, you're right on both counts! Having said that, please refer to my response to Hammer|!

Maybe you could've led the way by posting the below in the Massa thread then? I wasn't the one who instigated this discussion.
