More like local and ongoing news here...but I just find it unbelievable. They lost track of a PLANE. A 777 AIRP-L-A-N-E. It lost contact about 10 hours back and they're still searching for its whereabouts.

A couple of updates, this is a mindf*ck alright. They found huge slicks of fuel off Vietnam coast, and...

Missing MAS flight: Two imposters on board plane

An Italian man, whose name was listed as having boarded the MAS flight MH370 that was reported missing on Saturday, was not on board the plane.

According to reports, someone else had used the passport of Luigi Maraldi to board the plane. He is alive and well in Thailand on a holiday.

Italy's foreign ministry functionary, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Maraldi had reported his passport stolen last August.

According to Italian newspaper, La Repubblica, Maraldi returned home after his passport was stolen and had a new one issued.

When officials heard of the missing plane, they went to his parents’ home but they said their son was alive and well in Thailand, and had called to say he was fine.

“I am fine, I was not on the flight,” he told his parents.

London’s Daily Mirror reported that a second passenger on the flight had also used a stolen passport.

Austrian authorities have confirmed that Christan Kozel "is safe and well."

Kozel told Austrian newspaper De Standard that his passport was stolen when he visited Thailand two years ago.

It is still unclear as to who had travelled on MH370 under the two names.

I just watched Non-Stop few days ago and this script already trumps it. Apparently the Vietnamese control tower had taken over monitoring when the plane was on international waters and never reported anything for at least 3-4 hours back to the Msian tower even after they'd officially lost track of it. Seriously, what the :censored: ?

And the two phrases in bold...2 separate passports stolen and both 'victims' are alive and well with Thailand mentioned in both cases. It just gets more and more mindboggling.

MAS is releasing statements to prepare the next of kin of all passengers to expect the worst, it's pretty much a surety the plane is in the water.

Sounds like a hijack, why was it not reported? Unless the ATCO's are in on it?

I am sure the local CAA will of impounded all audio and radar recordings (if they exist) by now.

Unfortunately outside of Europe and North America the use of Secondary Radar is almost none existing (I have been told), emergency codes could of alerted people to their plight if it was a hijack.

There was no mayday call, suggesting what ever it was that took it down happened in am instant. I'm betting it was a bombing.

There are now 4 people onboard authorities are looking into, unfortunately this looks like another case of Islamic bullpoo killing innocent people.

Majority of passengers were chinese nationals (headed back to Beijing), about 1/4 of the passengers were msians and the rest are of various other nationalities, 14 different nationalities in total.

I don't think a bombing is probable but no one knows, they just found some debris floating on the water near the Vietnamese border. Singapore and China warships are at the scene now.

Stolen passports were on the Interpol DB which is easily accessible by all airlines for check-in and also immigration. That is a serious mistake. I recently passed through KL and remember thinking to myself how lax the security was there. It is a stark contrast to Singapore's Changi airport where they clearly place a higher value on security IMO. I don't think I will be booking a flight through KL for a while.

Agreed 100%, the so-called PM is now all "we must review all security protocols in KLIA", right we wait for a 777 to go missing before reviewing protocols. Moron. It's pretty embarrassing really.

Why were these passports not black listed after being stolen?

If you're going to fly, any time soon, you may not want to read this:

LYON: Interpol has confirmed that at least two passports – Austrian and Italian – recorded in its Stolen and Lost Travel Documents (SLTD) database were used by passengers on board missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH 370.

The Austrian and Italian passports were added to Interpol’s SLTD database after their theft in Thailand in 2012 and 2013 respectively...

No checks of the stolen Austrian and Italian passports were made by any country between the time they were entered into Interpol’s database and the departure of flight MH 370....

...Last year, passengers were able to board planes more than a billion times without having their passports screened against Interpol's databases...

...The United States searches this database annually more 250 million times; the Britain more than 120 million times and the UAE more than 50 million times...

..."If Malaysia Airways and all airlines worldwide were able to check the passport details of prospective passengers against Interpol's database, then we would not have to speculate whether stolen passports were used by terrorists to board MH 370," said Noble...
