... we are always factually correct.

As is this fact:-
For the other 19 races that made up the 2012 season Jenson outscored Lewis by 23 points :)

Fair enough, if it makes you happy that your particular stat proves anything. F1 is about winning and to LAP another driver in identical equipment is what legends are made of :thumbup:

F1 is about winning, Rosberg beat Lewis 2-1 last year. Does that make him 2x as good?

:yikes: :yikes::yikes::yikes: I an SO disappointed in Spanky and Operman! What's going on in this thread? Operaman and Spanky? You two are usually so good at sorting out the wheat from the chaff and I hear you arguing that Jenson was nearly as good as Lewis on 2012! That is SO Not the case! ( Hammer you forgot the 25 points for the petrol fiasco in Spain) Spanky would you like to offer Jenson red overalls?
But this is the Jenson support thread, so some positives, he's good at politics, he scores good points, he can go fast sometimes...sometimes very fast, but not often. He's good for smooching clients. He can get the team round him. He gets Japenese support. I think there's more but I can't remember them.
But those saying he's close to Hamilton :banghead::banghead: come on! Get real. Be honest to yourselves.

You know exactly where I stand RC, I am disappointed that you would make this statement.

Just because of all the flack Button is taking:

Jenson Button commits to McLaren for one more year - sparking scrap for his services in 2015

It had been thought the 33-year-old would sign a three or four year contract with the Woking-based team

The revelation came as the Woking operation landed the coup of the year yesterday in luring design genius Peter Prodromou from champions Red Bull.

Until now it was thought Button would sign a three or four year contract at McLaren with options that would take him closer to the end of his sparkling career.

But the deal signed months ago, and set to be announced soon, is for 2014 alone.

And a scrap is sure to ensue for the 33-year-old’s services in 2015.

Level-headed Button is seen as the only top driver who can work with any of his rivals...

...Button was written off by many experts when he joined Hamilton at McLaren but ended up scoring more points than the 2008 champion in their three years together...

You think teams are going to be scrapping to pay 16 mil for button?? :confused::confused:

I suspect a year was all McLaren would commit to, Martin was clearly on the way out .

Button wanted a longer deal, the team only offered him 1 year. It was not Buttons choice.

Let wait till we hear a team say they are scrapping for him before we take media musings seriously. Who exactly would scrap to get him in 2015, Caterham? Non of the front or mid teams did when he let them all know he hadnt signed his 2014 McLaren contract. And he will be even older next year, having been pushed out by a rookie

However to be fair to :duckie: lets see how he does this year under Ron, who is ruthless with driviers who blame the car or who have no balls. He has a chance to attract a drive next year at a lower team or it will be his last year in F1

I can't believe that having beaten a rock star teammate on points over the three years wasn't enough to have McLaren sign him to a multi year contract. :confused:

Getting outqualified by a 1 year flop pay driver is actually a statistic that is listed as a metric by the FIA, whereas total points over 3 years is not

Maybe its this shameful distortion of greatness that caused the accountants at Mclaren to make this grave and immoral decision

I'm fuc*ing sick of that pathetic last line of defence for Button "outscored LH over 3 years" wtf. If they had any shame they'd not even look at this nugget since anyone following the sport knows the performance band between the two and how Hamilton lost almost a 100 points through sheer bad luck during the partnership. :wavey-finger:

No need to get all huffed about it, people will often come to different conclusions to suit their narrative. I actually updated the classic Lewis V Jenson thread today with the final figures.

Chill, Hamms

The only statistic that counts and both will know it is as follows;

Top 10 Formula 1 earners of 2014:

1. Fernando Alonso – Ferrari – €20 million ($27.14 million) (plus limited endorsments)
& Lewis Hamilton – Mercedes – €20 million ($27.14 million) (plus unlimited endorsements)
3. Jenson Button – McLaren – €16 million ($21.71 million) (all endorsments part of McLaren deal)

Another statistic that points to who will get paid what assuming they get a drive in 2015 is this;

Autosport Team Principals' (decision makers, not steak dinnered gutter press) Top 10 drivers rankings

4 Lewis Hamilton 117

9 Jenson Button 24

One is valued/rated 5 times the other
