They were lapping slower than the GP2 cars at last years test.

Merc don't need to panic. Most teams hardly did any laps like Red Bull and McLaren.

No. Going by their comments I think they gathered what they wanted to gather for the first day, but it would've been good to get some distance over everyone else and possibly identify more bugs which need to be ironed out. Right now no one really holds any advantage apart from Merc and Fiat.

Have we got a break down (none intentional pun) of the laps per engine manufacturers

Ferrari: 38
Mercedes: 36
Renault: 19

I don't know for certain if installation laps are included in that total, but I'm guessing they are because some of them are marked as not having registered a time.

Ferrari and Mercedes are quite even then. Mercedes would of done a lot more this afternoon if Lewis did not get distracted by his new in car Twitter feed display lol.

Let's hope the front wing weakness is not a problem for Mercedes, it is all about miles on track at the moment.

Lewis is also sporting a modified steering he mentioned last year. He said he wanted a custom steering wheel more like the one he had at McLaren. So he has the one that's like a Plane only upside down like the latest McLaren steering wheels.

Are you kidding? It IS bad. I heard a few souped up cars pass by earlier on the freeway next to my building and they sounded like this.

No need for earplugs at trackside from now though, there's a silver lining.

Why so upset. Lewis Hamilton DID crash. That statement isn't implying any fault on Lewis.

The implication was there. Makes better headlines doesn't it.
