Wow, that car is on first glance more sorted than all the rest. The detail, the rear, the side pods, this is what happens when you make something with enough time and money.

The nose solution - its pretty because they have done it well, now I expect Lewis will rack up most laps and set fastest time ntoday

10 laps clocked in for Lewis...10 times that of a Ferrari or Redbull, good 1st day so far.

How's Vernge managed 10 laps without an engine, maybe Renault only have one working

I thought you were going to say he did one lap then had a brake failure again. Man that would be anticlimactic

Lewis into the barriers: The whole front end of the Mercedes has been ripped off. Hamilton is out of the car and the team report that it was a car failure which led to the off. "Cause to be investigated once the car returns to the garage," says the team.

Discounting the obvious difference in size of the pictures, these two beasts seem to be very similar in nature!!

Front wing failure confirmed.....wing was lodged below the car and threw it into the barriers. Expensive first day failure, they were really on a roll with 18 laps clocked!!

Still better to have got some running and found a problem rather than no running, as those problems will come at higher speed. Its a good sign that the only failure was at a high speed after several laps.

Would be very interesting to see if any other car matches his laps or speed by the end of the day

They seem similar until you get to the back, the fiat is a lot less sophisticated and tightly packaged. Its almost as if Ferrari poached a couple of engineers from Merc before Merc had finished their rear end, and so they couldnt provide details of the rear
