There is a SKI thread keep your habit in there :whip::whip: for those of us too scared of exercise.

You don't have to get off your a** to read. I said I was shovelling snow, and watching TV. That's what I did today.

No offense meant.

My apologies then. I do tend to be a bit of a hot-head ....... must come from the Irish side of the family.

Had a weird meal in a local public house (it was a minted lamb shank, with mash and gravy -I know WB finds our British food interesting)

On the table next to us, sat a woman on her own. Half way through the meal, I looked up to see her in floods of tears. So I did what any knight in shining armour would do, that right I pointed it out the SWMBO thinking she would have a womanly chat to her. She told me to f**k off as she was eating . (See not all of us Brits are classy and talk with a plum in our mouths) anyway at this point, the lad decided he needed to go to the toilet. On the way back I detoured to see what the woman was doing. She was typing on a laptop. I did recognise the software but it looked like some form of chat. Over the next 15 minutes or so, as we finished our meals, she burst into tears another 2 or 3 times. Wiped the tears away and carried on typing.

As we got up to leave she started crying again. I was convinced she was getting dumped via chat. So I walked over to ask if she was ok. She laughed and said she was a writer, writing the end off one of her books and the main character had died and that is what had upset her.

Talk about living the book.

The meal sounded nice until you got to the mash... I can't stand mash potato :S as for the woman I would of slipped a note on her table asking if she was okay for two reasons, firstly I'm bad at talking (shy) and secondly to give her some privacy I always think when people ask others if they're okay they should do it a bit more discreetly.

As someone who doesn't enjoy reading books I can never understand how people get emotional and what not over a book...

That was very sweet of you, Jabber!! Not sure what I would have done in your place.
Or if I'd been the one in tears... mind you, I'm not sure why she would feel the need to
finish writing an emotional (and, one would assume, private) ending in a public place!

To each his own, eh?

Wow...that is indeed living a book. I had a similar experience in an airport where I was chilling in a wifi area with my laptop enjoying a starbucks coffee, and this chick was at the same table (a small round table with just 2 of us) and was wailing away quietly in her hands, and her phone was on the table. This went on for 15min (no joke) while I was surfing the net, and then I left since it was time to head to the gates.
