I wonder if Grumman will be as big of a bunch of nincompoops as Ford were a few years ago :hehe:

Random notion. Did Grumman assign the F number. I always though the number was assigned by NATO. Ie F for fighter, B for bomber, H for helicopter etc

Think it's just a US defense designation system.
Any way the F14 Tomcat is faster sexier and more expensive than any Ferrari I doubt Grumman care :hehe:

Oh what a shame they picked FIAT instead of F166Turbo. The latter sounds so much more the real deal! So much more 'don't mess with me!' Than FIAT. But the fans picked it and if that's what they want so be it. I think it's nice that Ferrari let the fans decide.

It was good they let the fans decide, thumbs up to Ferrari for that. It was a very close thing between the F14-T and the F166 Turbo. Here are the actual votes:-
Name Votes %
F14 T 369.711 32,9%
F166 Turbo 350.607 31,2%
F14 Scuderia 211.263 18,8%
F14 Maranello 138.220 12,3%
F616 53.940 4,8%
Total 1.123.741 100,00%

For me, T when used by the team stood for Transversale. But then again, there were quite a few "traditionalists" that opposed the F166 Turbo have a name in it, ie Turbo. Personally I think the newer fans liked that so I thought that was good.

My last thought, I liked the F166 Turbo cause it meant 16 wins with the 6 cylinder engine. I'll just have to settle for 14 wins with F14-T :D

Couple of new team members recently added by Ferrari. Florian Puget, ERS Hybrid Systems Engineer (former KERS Hybrid Systems Enginner), from Mercedes HPP (end of last year) and Evangelos Arvanitakis, an aerodynamicist also from Mercedes.

When I first read this, I thought you meant you'd recruited them to this forum :rofl:

I like how they made clear that 100% of people who voted, voted.

I think all cars need the word turbo appended on, it sounds more menacing. The E22 Turbo, the MP4-26 Turbo

More black in the F14-T livery to try and hide stuff - from Italian tv

Pull rod stays

That's probably the most interesting bit.

I knew I'd seen that somewhere before.

Just compare the size of the side pods on the Ferrari powered cars compared to the merc powered cars. The F14-T pods are definitely more compact, which defies what you would expect.

Seriously though, interesting concept. I like how the logic is almost the same as the other guys with the weird noses but a different implementation. Fascinating reveals so far must be said!

Can't tell how big the sidepods are compared to Williams and McLaren's machines from this angle though.

You know every team is bfeverishly doing CFD computations on the other guy's noses.... I bet that by the middle of the season we'll see five or six teams with identical noses.

Just compare the size of the side pods on the Ferrari powered cars compared to the merc powered cars. The F14-T pods are definitely more compact, which defies what you would expect.

No way from the pics there can you meaningfully tell how much narrower they are. What we need is an overhead overlay matching the tires to appreciatively make out the difference.

Well for me there is already a clear difference in the pods. The F14-T is def more compact and tighter. And the intake area is just so much smaller - especially compared to the merc powered McLaren. And that intake is pure drag in aero terms. For me there is a huge easily visible difference
