I think the rules say you have to have an actual nose member projected out and a means of support for the wing. So lotus have one of each but side by side

Instead of the member and struts supporting the wing,they have 2 members or struts. And so 1 is shorter so they can call it the strut with the longer called the nose member

Can't see too much airflow advantage though
