Jan 18 ..... Happy birthday Giles

Lifted from the Ferrari website, a quote from Enzo on the late great GV.

His temperament soon won over the crowds and very quickly he became…Gilles! Yes, some saw him as a barnstormer and thought he was a nutcase, but with his generosity, his intrepid nature, his ‘destructiveness,’ when driving the cars, eating up halfshafts, gearboxes, clutches, brakes, he showed what he could do in the way a driver can defend himself in an unpredictable way. He was the champion of fighting spirit and he brought so much notoriety to Ferrari. I loved him.

He's one of my favourites ever. He, Senna and Hamilton. Out of the same mold :)

I'll bet you have never even watched one race with him in it or know his record or story. Try YouTube, you might suddenly become a Lewis follower

She's a truebred Tifosi mate....Lewis has never driven for Ferrari. If you get hired by Ferrari next week, she'll start supporting you.

It's amazing how the tifosi can know so much about nothing and so little about the rest of F1

Back to Gilles, I love that quote from Enzo where he says Gilles the champ of pure driving spirit brought so much notoriety to the team by his antics. He could have been talking about Lewis

Also where Enzo says he quickly became 'Gilles' like 'Lewis' not many drivers earn that so quickly, Alonso, Vettel, etc

I agree with RC, it's Lewis - Senna - Gilles in a direct line. Others have had splashes of that spirit but those 3 were completely immersed in it with no compromise

Happy birthday Gilles, and thank God we have Lewis today

Boys, seemings as this is a Ferrari thread, and remembering that our rules state that we should respect our fellow members and not be insulting, do you think you could tone down your Tifosi/Ferrari obloquy so we mods have nothing to do but enjoy paticipating in threads and get rid of spammer

To be honest, spanky, I feel sorry for people who don't understand loyalty!
Loyalty doesn't mean being blind to a person's faults, it means accepting
them and loving them and defending them in spite of those faults.

Maybe it's a generational thing? Maybe it's a cultural thing? Whatever it is,
I'm proud to say I'm loyal to my team! :D

Again, where did I say anything wrong in my quote? I was being no way condescending or insulting, it is the truth isn't it? You Tifosi do state over and over and over again that anyone who drives for Ferrari will have your support? I was being genuine and I assume if Cookinflat does indeed drive for Ferrari he will have your support, what's wrong with saying that? It's a fact. Lewis has never driven for Ferrari thus sagi wouldn't support him no matter what sort of driving style he has. Do correct me if my thinking is warped in this regard.

Thanks for the clarification Hammer, I'm sure Sagi will be happy to know you were positive in your reference to her loyalty to her team.
Having said that, I know of plenty of Tifosi that applaud and recognise the quality of other drivers and also question decisions and actions of their own team :)

You're right, Hamilton does not drive for Ferrari; but, you're wrong because I do recognize his talent.
You're right, if Cookin' were hired by Ferrari, I'd support him; but, you're wrong if you think I'd agree with everything he says.

And you know that I'm one of them, as does a particular administrator who banned me for speaking my mind ""against"" some Ferrari decisions! :banghead:
